We looked at one this weekend that was 16 feet long and weighed 3250 lbs. Too much for our tow-package included town and country when we add ourselves and any packing. Hope this helps!

Edit: I have been running a VW powered dune buggy since 1984. It has been a never ending source of fun for me the whole time.
The abs will come on if something as simple as low brake fluid happens so check that.

If shopping for a used coach I would take the measurements myself, especially when looking at the height. Popular aftermarket add-ons like antennas, ladder, roof racks, Satellite dishes, ect. may effect the motorhomes overall height.

How do front brakes work on a 1985 Southwind motorhome on a GMC chassis?
The brakes are most likely hydraulic and use a pump to supply pressure assist to the master cylinder the same way a vacuum booster adds force to standard power brakes.
Except for the fact that a hydraulic system can apply more pressure to the brake disks or drums than a Vacuum booster the brakes work the same as any other braking system since the loop made up of the master cylinder and individual pistons that apply the force to the shoes on drum brakes and rotors on disk brakes are the same as power brakes.
Because of the added force applied to the brake parts in this system the drums and rotors are different and must be rated for hydraulic service. Visually they appear the same but standard types will wear out prematurely.
The majority of GMC/Chevy motorhomes of this period in the 24 to 35 ft length use the Chevy P30 truck chassis as the undercarriage. This is also the standard truck of choice used in most UPS delivery vans and it is easier to find information on this chassis and it's parts by searching for either the P30 or UPS truck in parts catalogs. This chassis available in several lengths uses one of the following engines, the gmc/chevy 350, 454, or the 6.2 diesel and all use a hydraulic brake system. The same pump is also used for the power steering system.

If your Chevy chassis has the Auto-Park feature, it could be that the Auto-Park brake isn't releasing. This can happen when you park the motorhome. (The brake can also suddenly decide to apply itself when you're going down the interstate at 70mph. Neither is a happy situation for the motorhome traveller.)
Here's the deal if everything is working OK: When the transmission is in Park, it doesn't lock the transmission as cars do. Instead, it applies a brake to the drive shaft. When you apply the parking brake (foot brake) it applies the very same brake to the drive shaft. Either way, the brake on the drive shaft tries to lock the rear wheels. So, in order to move, you have to release the parking brake and shifting out of Park has to release the Auto-Park brake. If Auto-Park doesn't release the brake, it will give you exactly the symptoms you have.

NEVER leave water in a RV for more than 30 days. If you do fill the tank add a 1/2 cup of bleach to the tank let it rest for about 1hour and flush tank 2 times .Never leave water in tank in winter time or you will be replaceing it in spring.oh if its a 50 to 100 g.tank use 1 cup blech.
