if he does give you a fake painting it is only worth 10 bells and you buy it for
3 thousands bells.
You can't really tell if it's fake but if he has a painting that costs only 2,000 bellls then you probaly shouldn't buy it. If the painting is really expenses, even for Redd's shop, then you should buy it and see if its real. Just because the paintings aren't real doesn't mean there not good decoration for your house.
