Bob Marley went by many names growing up. However, how he started going by Bob is when he went to the United States the first time, the person who was filling out his passport said that Bob Marley should not go by Nesta ( Bobs real name is actually Nesta Robert Marley.) because it would be taken as a girl name in the US so they changed it to Robert Nesta Marley instead and so later he started going by Bob to shorten it and so the name would be more American like.

Marley had 13 children and one wife; only 3 (or possibly 4) of the children were by her, the others being either adopted by his marriage or to other women.

The reggae singer Robert Nesta Marley (1945-1981)died from cancer. which started in his toe and spread to his lungs and brain. A small section of his toe was removed in the initial stages in the hope of preventing the spread, but this was unsuccessful and Marley later had unconventional treatment in Germany. He died surrounded by his family in May of 1981.

Bob Marley died from Metastatic skin cancer on May 11, 1981. He was 36.

Reggae opera was coined and invented by Ras cardo from trench town Jamaica. He is the same inventor and creator for many things in Reggae and of reggae music. He also coined the word Reggae in 1962. Reggae opera was coined by him in 1964 and was taken to his high school where he introduced it to his classmates, most notably Geoffrey Chung.

Reggae opera is reggae music sung with an operatic style and classical rhythm just like the known classics of Beethoven, Bach, Mozart and others. It was a trench town creation in the tenement room where Ras Cardo grew up. To date only one known reggae opera DIVA exists who also hails from Kingston, Jamaica. Trench town however is the first for many things musical and Ras cardo has chosen to keep a lot of its creations and talents from exploitations.

Ras Cardo has the archives to which many aspire to obtain the facts on the who's and why's of trench town musical historicity. Today- Janet Scott is the worlds first and only living reggae opera diva from Jamaica.

RE above answer: Jimmy Cliff did remake of original by Johnny Nash (1972) but Bob Marley also sang the lyrics! Nash genre for this song originally IS reggae.

No, Peter Tosh didn't go to Bob Marley's funeral. Bob and Peter had a conflicting friendship, and as far as Rastafarian belief, they don't believe in funerals and don't believe in death. Peter Tosh was often quoted, "Let the dead bury the dead".
