The definition of "curse," and the list of curse words included in that, varies from person to person. A more conservative person will consider the word "suck" to be a curse word; however, it is commonly used today to refer negatively to a situation or object.
Personally, I was raised in a home where "suck" was considered a swear word, and to this day I do not use it. However, I know many people who use it commonly. That said, there are some words that are always, absolutely considered curse words, and others (sometimes considered "minor" swears) are variable depending on your social environment. Unfortunately, "suck" is one of those words that varies, so you will simply have to think before you use it. Take into consideration your environment, and the person(s) you are speaking with before you use the word.

How do you pronounce margulis?
Rhymes with marvelous. At least that's how I pronounce it. (And Charlie Margulis, no relation, had an album called "Marvelous Margulis," suggesting that's how he pronounced it). My dad pronounced it MAR-gyuh-lis, but I was never able to wrap my tongue around the "gy" sound. My mother and sister followed his lead, though. My grandparents, who brought the name with them from Russia, drew out the first syllable a bit (not quite a rolled R) and put more oo into the unstressed u, but that was consistent with their Russian accent. I think my pronunciation follows theirs more than my dad's.
Other families, of course, can pronounce the name as they see fit. I know some people stress the second syllable and end up with mar-GOO-luhs. But the question was how I pronounce it, not how someone else does.
