Not unless the Hudson River is the only river in which water flows uphill. The beginning of the Hudson River is in the Adirondacks and is often sited as either Lake Tear of the Clouds or Henderson Lake. If you look at a map you see how confusing it is as several bodies of water connect to form the source, however Lake Tear of the Clouds is the highest source which probably makes it the best answer. Either way, NYC is certainly not the beginning of the river. It is the end.
