No. Well, at least no more so than your computer. A robot's "thoughts" are simply the programming given to them. Even "artificial intelligence" is the programming of responses to stimuli, but to a greater extent than in other robots.

They already do. As robots are not sentient beings, the possibility for a human-robot conflict does not exist as the conflict would be one-sided. Robots are the creations of humans and can only do what they are programmed to, even those with "artificial intelligence". Because of this, robots are not even living beings and therefore do not have an existence of which to coexist with other beings.

Robots in our future can either be a good or a bad thing. You may have already seen the future in Robots in the auto and medical industry. Currently there is one car factory in Germany that is totally automated by Robots and one IBM technology factory in Texas 100% automated. One company, Caterpillar, is working on robotic machinery and plans on 2020-2021 for complete automation of their heavy machinery.

The largest industry where you will see robots in our future before others is the medical industry. The Da Vinci surgery robot is an indication of the possibilities of robots working in hospitals. Robots are precise and performing risky surgeries can alleviate human error and stress associated with surgery. Increasing health care costs and the needs of the elderly and sick put a strain on our current network of doctors. Having robots perform the day-to-day and repetitive surgeries can free up doctors and surgeons for the harder operations. Also, medical scientists are affected: they would be able to concentrate of creating vaccines and cures.

Every machine must be designed by an engineer. Or in many cases a team of engineers. Once the design is complete, a prototype must be assembled by a person or by many people. This prototype is then tested. After testing, reports are sent back to the engineers who initially designed the machine to have the design perfected. At this point another prototype must be assembled and tested. Once the machine is proven to be fully functional, the machines are put on the market.

An autonomous robot has complete control over its actions and can think for itself. It can learn and adapt very much like AI. A semiautonomous robot is controlled by its programming and is restricted to what its programming tells it. It can not learn further than a certain point. A manual robot is just that. A robot that must be controlled manually by someone or something. It needs to be told what to do, how to do it, and when to do it. It cannot learn or think for itself.

um... pretty sure no-one's 'discovered' any robots, but if you mean the people who first saw them, then I guess that'd be the inventor of the robot? And the answer to THAT question would probably be someone in Japan. No racism intended. :)

With proper brainstorming and design, today's robots are capable of doing almost anything. I've seen robots perform a submarine crew rescue simulation underwater, scout an area for danger, and help nurses care for the elderly in nursing homes. This is by no means all they can do though as the constant developments of the field may suggest! Robots such as RoboFisher may catch fish on a real lake and you just stay home and control it from your mobile device or computer.
