What do you do if your tooth is gray after a root canal?

You dont have to do anything. That is perfectly normal. My sister had one and hers is the same way. The dentist said it will be like that. So sometimes if you go to the dentist they can give you a cap for it, but i dont think it's recommended.

I had a part of a tooth break off and it is hollow don to the gums I can see 2 holes Doesn't hurt though Is the tooth dead Will it have to be pulled or have a root canal?

They may be able to save it by putting a cap or crown on it. You are lucky that it doesn't hurt. Hopefully you won't need a root canal, but they will know by taking an Xray of it, and testing you for hot and cold sensitivity. If they can't save the tooth, then yes, they will put it. Especially if it is a very back tooth. You can live without it. Although some may insist that you have a cap, or crown to replace it.

Can root canal be performed on a wisdom tooth?

Sure it can, but almost any dentist would consider it a waste of time and money.

Wisdom teeth, in 99%+ of human beings are something you are better off without.

Have sore bottom back jaw behind back teeth in area where wisdom teeth were removed 10 yrs ago and bone has grown up in its place swollen cheeks and lymph knots throughout the body?

I had a very saw jaw earlier this year. Not sure about my Lymph knots however I was told I had TMI - a swelling oin the jaw joint. Can be caused by grinding teeth at night and being stressed. Mine was not helped by chewing. What did I do? had mushed up food for over a week - no chewing. Went and had several massages to relax the body / back and the jaw. Felt great. took some anti inflams and one small dimazapan for about 3 nights to ensure a deep sleep. All was great. Then I went surfing and the surf board turned in the water and was lifted up at force to the underneath of my chin with such force I saw stars ! I massaged my jaw for the next 2 hours to relax it and so far so good. If I feel a bit stressed and tension in my jaw I prod my fingers to where it hurts and massage. Good luck

What happens when you have to have a root canal procedure repeated?

The first dentist screwed up if the procedure has to be repeated on the same tooth. Talk to the dentist and if necessary, a lawyer.

Not true. The Long-Term success rate for initial root canal treatment will vary from 80-95%. (Any dental or medical procedure is not 100% predictable in the long-term, eg dental implants). In the 5-20% of teeth where root canal treatment is unsuccessful, retreatment may be needed. It does NOT necessarily mean that the dentist "screwed up"

Retreatment involves drilling another hole in the tooth or crown, removing all the old filling material, cleaning, disinfecting, and placing a new root canal filling. Almost all dentists will refer you to an Endodontist for retreatment cases.

Are teeth extractions with root canals painful?

Yes, they are extremely painful. Some teeth might be more painful than others, it all depends on the tooth.

Which instrument is used to enlarge and smooth the root canal?

The instruments typically used are called Endo Files . . . they come in different lengths and widths. . . . the dentist uses the size relevant to the patients canals along with RC prep to smooth and at the same time enlarge the canals . . . If all goes well the dentist can use Gutta Percha and Sealer to finalize the Root Canal . . (several steps were skipped of course ) .

Is it normal to have swelling in the face and gum 4 days after a root canal procedure?

What does occlusive mean?

"Occlusive" is an adjective that refers to the occlusal, which is the chewing surface of molar and pre-molar teeth.

Is slight tooth discomfort normal after a root canal?

Yes, it is. If the discomfort does not ease, this is a sign of failure of the root treatment. I would suggest that if the discomfort is not severe, to wait a couple of weeks to see if it settles. An antiinflammatory drug such as Ibuprofen is often recommended for a couple of days post-operatively. I hope this is of some use to you.

AnswerYes, after a root canal you might feel some pain for a few days, and then some discomfort for a few weeks every time you chew on that tooth. There are always exceptions where some people don't feel any pain at all, and others feel discomfort for a few months.

Can a 10 year old have a root canal on a molar?

6 year olds get their first adult molar at the back of the mouth , and if a cavity gets too deep quickly, the nerve will die, and the tooth will need root canal treatment.

I had a root canal done. but now i feel some pain on the tooth that is next to the tooth i had my root canal done.. is this normal?

Yes, this is very normal I can't remember what my dentist called it but she says its when one tooth has something done to it, automatically all the teeth around feel the pressure and strain. I had 4 root canals last week and at first I thought they had done a root canal to the tooth behind it also because it hurt so bad and all the sudden felt loose. They told me nothing had been done to it and that was perfectly normal and after like 2 days it went away.

Do you have to do subgingival scaling and root planing before the crown lengthening?

I had a crown placed yesterday below the gum line. It wasn't technically lengthening, but the tooth was badly decayed, but not too far up. The dentist scaled and planed that tooth in preparation for the temporary, because they want to make sure all of the tartar is off of the site before they cement it.

I had my post and core done with no novocaine, and just one little shot before he stretched my gums out to scrape and smooth the root. I couldn't feel him working in the front, where I got the shot. I could, however, feel the back. He asked me if I wanted to be numb back there too, but I declined, seeing as I hate being numb for 4-5 hours. I just dealt with it. It is a bit painful, but nothing to worry about. Your gum will be sore afterward, but nothing you can't deal with, with or without some ibuprofen. The soreness was gone within an hour.

If you have an enlarged lymph node or an impacted salivary gland under your jaw that resulted after a root canal a year ago and has been stable should you have it cut or just let it be?

If the enlarged lymph node or impacted salivary gland has been stable for a year and there are no other concerning symptoms, it may be reasonable to monitor it. However, it's essential to consult with a healthcare professional for a thorough evaluation, as they can determine if further investigation or intervention is necessary. They may recommend imaging or a biopsy to rule out any underlying issues. Always prioritize professional medical advice for such concerns.
