This answer is rediculous - With a NZ population of 4,115,771 (2006 Census) This means that there is one rugby club for every 4 people (male, female, young old, or ancient.)

In 2009 NZRU stated that there were 145,472 active players!

Born Richard Hugh McCaw (Richie McCaw) is Crusader, All Black Captain and Loose Forward. He was Born in Oamaru, North Otago, New Zealand on the 31st of December 1980 (31 years old). He attended Otago Boys High School (Dunedin) 1994-1998. Richie also attended Lincoln University (Christchurch) and has a degree is Agricultural Science. Richie played rugby for the New Zealand under 19's and the Under 21's and Canterbury (was NPC at the time) ITM Squads. He is currently single ("Focusing on his career"). He lead the All Blacks in the Rugby World Cup final this year and won 8-7 against France at Eden Park Auckland New Zealand. He is also the most Capped All Black Captain, receiving his 100 cap for the All Blacks against France is the early stages of the RWC 2011. Richie is due to receive a Doctorate in April 2012 for "Human Resources".
