2007 is the 52nd year that NORAD has been tracking Santa Claus around the world. They started tracking Santa on Christmas Eve in 1955. Their internet website showing the tracking started in 1998. Merry Christmas!

Washington Irving is credited with being the first American writer to depict Santa Claus as a plump, jolly figure in his 1809 book "Knickerbocker's History of New York." This portrayal of Santa Claus played a significant role in shaping the modern image of the character.

First, it should be noted that this is a myth, a popular legend that has been told for several hundred years. It is a story about Santa Claus (or Father Christmas) flying through the sky in a magical sleigh, pulled by reindeer, to bring gifts to children all over the world. In the original telling, popularized in a poem called 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, there was no reindeer with a red nose; there were eight reindeer, and they all pulled the sleigh. A ninth reindeer, Rudolph, was added later-- in the 1930s, when a hit song about "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" made him part of the story. But whether he was original to the story or not, the purpose of the reindeer with the nose that was "glowing" (not "growing") was to help Santa/Father Christmas see the homes with the good children, so that he could make sure they received their Christmas gifts.

Some hard questions to answer about Santa are things like what are Santa's favorite cookies, because that is tough... Santa likes almost all kinds of cookies. Chocolate chip, peanut butter, snickerdoodles, fudge stripe... and the list goes on, and they are all delicious.Another one that is hard is "Is Santa Claus real" ... I mean, what do you say to people who doubt your existence? Sometimes I am tempted to tell them that more people believe in me than believe in them, but Mrs. Claus tells me that isn't really in the Christmas spirit.

Wouldn't it be nice if people asked easy things, like what color toothbrush Santa uses, or what his favorite Christmas stories are?
