What are the 8 steps to a scientific method?
there are nine stages or steps for social scientific research
1. choosing the research problem
2. reviewing the literature
3. state a hypothesis
4. formulate a research design
5. gathering data
6. coding and analysing data
7. interpreting the results to test hypothesis
8. presenting the results
9. replication *(if required)

What is an over-consolidation ratio?
The over consolidation ratio or OCR is defined as the highest stress experienced divided by the current stress
Differences between chemical and physical properties?
In a physical change of matter, no new substances are formed. However, physical properties such as size, shape, color, or phase may change. Dissolving, melting, evaporating and grinding are examples of physical change.
As a result of chemical change, one or more new substances with new and different properties are formed. The new substances are different from the original substance. Burning and the rusting of iron are examples of chemical change.
What did Francis Bacon help to develop?
Francis Bacon helped to develop the scientific method. The scientific method is composed of 5 different steps with the first step being to ask a question.
What is a Qualitative Inference?
Qualitative Inference is a term used to discus the idea of conceptually moving or 'inferring' between distinct cases or settings.
What is Alexander Oparin's hypothesis on the origins of life?
That chemical molecules and gases could have combined on the early Earth to form the more complex compounds found in living things.
Where is water absorbed in the body?
Water is primarily absorbed in two places:
1) during digestion, water is primarily absorbed in the small intestine (90%), the remaining water (10%) is absorbed by the large intestine.
2) during filtration of the blood in the kidneys, water is reabsorbed in the nephron

Scientists make blank to help them make a hypothesis or collect data during an experiment?
Scientists make observations to help them make a hypothesis or collect data during an experiment.
What is meant by scientific methods?
The scientific method is a systematical way of translating observations into explanations of natural phenomena.
Is a hypothesis firm as a theory?
After making careful observations, scientists construct a hypotesis and a scientific theory is a statement that supported by many scientific observations. so a theory is firm, because a scientific theory is an explanation of a broad range of related phenomena based on repeated testing of a hypothesis
Rat poison does indeed dissolve if it is in powder form. This does not mean that it looses its potency though.
Does tap water or salt water cause metals to rust faster and why?
Most likely salt water. The salt accelerates the rate of corrosion, plus it has the oxygen needed for the metal to rust. Tap water has the oxygen too but with the salt also, it would cause the metal to rust more rapidly.
The clinical or scientific method of research?
The scientific method has four steps
1. Observation and description of a phenomenon or group of phenomena.
2. Formulation of an hypothesis to explain the phenomena. In physics, the hypothesis often takes the form of a causal mechanism or a mathematical relation.
3. Use of the hypothesis to predict the existence of other phenomena, or to predict quantitatively the results of new observations.
4. Performance of experimental tests of the predictions by several independent experimenters and properly performed experiments.
What will happen if the mongo seed is exposed to wet cotton and left for 5 days?
the seed will sprout
What is a Simple vs complex hypothesis?
A simple hypothesis is one in which all parameters of the distribution are specified. For example, if the heights of college students are normally distributed with, the hypothesis that its mean is, say,, that is , we have stated a simple hypothesis, as the mean and variance together specify a normal distribution completely. A simple hypothesis, in general, states that where is the specified value of a parameter, ( may represent etc).
A hypothesis which is not simple (i.e. in which not all of the parameters are specified) is called a composite hypothesis. For instance, if we hypothesize that (and) or and, the hypothesis becomes a composite hypothesis because we cannot know the exact distribution of the population in either case. Obviously, the parameters and have more than one value and no specified values are being assigned. The general form of a composite hypothesis is or, that is the parameter does not exceed or does not fall short of a specified value. The concept of simple and composite hypotheses applies to both null hypothesis and alternative hypothesis.
What is an operational definition of mass?
Operational definition in another words how would you find the mass ?
Zero out the balance, place the mass object on the pan, move the riders until it balanced, and finally record the mass.
