What makes a hypothesis in a science experiment testable?
Prediction of Observation. An Hypothesis is testable when it predicts what observations will occur under some circumstance that can be experimentally created.
Either it does so accurately, or it does not.
What type of questions are not testable using the scientific method?
Questions that are not testable or repeatable.
work=force(distance)
w=F(d)
w=400(3)
w=1,200 joules of work
What is the 6-step scientific method?
Step One: Ask a questions or state a problem
Example: What is the best soil for growing plants?
Step Two: Gather Background Information
Example: Getting information on nutrient content of different soil types. You can do research at a library on a computer or from a knowledgeable and reliable person.
Step Three: Form a Hypothesis
Your hypothesis should always be an if/then statement
Example: If I give the plant potting soil then it will grow taller than all the other plants.
Step Four: Experimenting (the fun part)
Example: Getting the same type of seed, the same type of pots, and the same amount of soil (different types of soil though) watering each plant the same amount with the same amount of sunlight then observing which plants grow the tallest.
Step Five: Gather Data
Example: Make a graph showing that the plant in pot a grew 22 CM, the plant in pot b grew 15 CM and so on.
Do the steps in the scientific method have to be in order?
Yes, to do otherwise you are entering the realm of psuedoscience. People would intentionally or unintentionally re-order their findings in order to prove their pre-conceived theories and ideas. They have already arrived at a conclusion (which is the FINAL step), and will come up with theories and experiments to reinforce that conclusion.
"Christian Science" is well known for doing this.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of the scientific method?
Advantages of using scientific methods: You can test in many different ways, and the more times you test, the more accurate your results will be.
Disadvantages of using scientific methods: You can come up with different results which can disprove your hypothesis, and this leads to inconsistent conclusions.
What is a sentence for scientific method?
The astronaut wanted to launch the rocket on Thursday afternoon.
Relationship between level of significance and hypothesis testing?
A physician wishes to study the relationship between hypertension and smoking habits. From a random sample of 180 individuals, the following results were obtained
At the 5% level of significance, test whether the absence of hypertension is independent of smoking habits.

Non-smokers
Moderate smokers

What are 2 reasons why the scientific method is used?
To propose a Theory and to make a Theory into a Law
What is meant by the scientific method explain?
From Psychks
Scientific method - organized step by step suplimatic orderly
1. Identifying the Problem
2. Gather information about the problem
3. Formulating Hypothesis
4. Test the hypothesis thru experiment
2 set-ups
• experimental
• controlled
5. Forming a conclusion/ Generalization
6. Verify the conclusion

Single variable in the scientific method?
the factor in an experiment that is missing the variable but is the same as other facotors in every other way.
Why can a supported hypothesis not be called a theory?
A hypothesis cannot be call a theory because,it has not supported a prediction even in the face of several experiment.
Why do scientists vary the order of the steps of the scientific method?
So they can get a more accurate answer
What are the names the the scientific method?
How is an observation used to form a hypothesis?
An observation are used to form hypothesis by forming a question of which the observation and then answering it accurately.
What is a hypothesis for science fair projects?
A hypothesis for a science fair project is a scientific guess for what will happen after you perform your experiment and why. an example is if you are testing how long you buzz on a certain type of Monster, you would say, "I think this type of Monster energy drink will last the longest because it has the highest amount of ginseng," or something.
Which part of the scientific method is based on the gathered data?
The "analyze and draw conclusions" step of the scientific method is based on gathered data.
How are hypothesis and conclusion related?
you first start off with a hypothesis and after you end up with a conclusion
