What are scuba boots used for?
If you have chosen to use open heel fins over the closed foot fins, you will then have to also prepare to invest in a pair of scuba boots. Besides good wetsuit boots can be used even for swimming. They offer a great protection for your feet against cuts and abrasions while entering or exiting the water especially on rocky shores where you might likely encounter sea urchins or stinging creatures

Why are wetsuits predominantly black?
Answer
It's easiest/best to make the base material of a wetsuit - neoprene - black.
Most colored wetsuits get their color from being coated by a thin textile layer. Apart from offering more design options, this makes the wetsuit more resistant to wear, but also make the material stiffer.
Answer
No. Modern wet suits come in various colors depending on the manufacturer. Custom suits can be made in any color.
However, it is true that most generic wetsuits are manufactured in black or in dark blue. I do not know why; it would make a lot more sense (from a safety point of view) to manufacture them in brighter colours.

As long as the individual is reasonably healthy, diving is possible. In fact many divers I see are what I would class as being overweight. I myself have dived for 10 years and have a middle age beer belly. If you are very large, it may be difficult to find equipment that will fit. Also you have to consider if you got into trouble, would anyone be able to pull you out of the water onto the beach or onto a boat? If you are in doubt, see a doctor for a basic medical.
Can you hear voices in a submarine while scuba diving?
It's just barely possible you could under the right conditions. You'd need to be quite close to the submarine, and they'd be distorted and difficult to understand, the same way you can hear your neighbors in an apartment building but not necessarily be able to understand what they're saying. It doesn't seem likely you could hear conversational voices; they'd probably have to be shouting.
