I dont know how old it is I also have an old double barrel with the same marking on it. It also has HJ STIERING or HJ STEERING stamped on it I cant quit tell if it is a i or e too warn. My gun needs to be restored do you have any idea where I can get parts. If you get any replies from your posting can you froward them to me? Thanks Frank

some of the markings on the barrel are proof marks that were stamped on the barrel. the crown with the elg is the final or definitive proof mark that means the gun met approval of the proofing house. elg stands for epreuve de liege/ proof of liege. the 12-70 means that the gauge is 12 and the chamber is 70 millimeters. however they do not help with the age of the gun much. but it does confirm that it was made on belgium. hope this info helped.

I would pay $150 for one is good working condition with all parts. Wood and finish must be VG as well. There is little demand due to the fact it is 16 Ga, three shot mag, and bolt action.

Numerous companies at the turn of the century made inexpensive firearms. No way to know if there are no other markings.

I have the same. It reads Daminated Steel on the rib. It has Belgian makers marks with the gunsmith mark being a crown over JJ. Very little info available but it was a play on Damascus and Laminated. Probably ill advised to fire it.

28 1/8" barrel, "WorthingtonArmsCo." inscribed on left beginning 3/4" from hinge pin. Inscription is in itallics and no space between words. Serial (?) number stamped at bottom of barrel on left and again on bottom of breech assembly where it marries with bottom of stock (at rear of trigger guard). Top left of breach assembly roughly below hammer "20" is stamped (?) followed with a diamond wherein is what appears to be a reverse "G". Itallics are authors. Steve Nelson 770-490-7728. Georgia

No details about this name appear in any of the lists of trade names I have, but I suspect it was made by one of the Belgian firms circa 1890-1914, possibly for sale by Janney, Semple, Hill & Co of Minneapolis.

There's simply WAY to many types/variations which can significantly effect value to answer this this without writing a book. For a 870 wingmaster in excellent condition between 200-250 and for a vented rib $400+- more strongly depending on definition of excellent condition. If this is a express around $200.
