My model 167 TD series K was a gift in the late 1970's (new) and it has a serial number on the receiver. I'm told that the presence of the serial number indicates that it was likely mfg after 1968.

The BULLET drop is the pull of gravity on the bullet as it is shot, resulting in the bullet lowering in altitude over a long distance. This is what long-distance shooters have to account for on their scopes. Different types of bullets with different weights, sizes, and shapes, as well as the barrel length and rifling ratios, affect how much the drop will be.

I just purchased a 12 ga. for $30.00 at a local gunshow. The research I have conducted indicates that a 12ga. runs $75-$100.00 I would think that a .410 would be a little less depending on the condition. There aparently is not a collectors market for these things but for the money they are a really good gun. This was just a trade name made for George Worthington's company which was sold for $6-$8 at local hardware stores. The most recent production date I can find would be in the 1920's

Not "better". Not worse, though, either. Both are functionally the same gun. Both are identical except for the location of the safety. The 500 is on top where your thumb can trip it....the Mav 88 is on the trigger guard where your finger works it. Neither is "better" unless you just happen to like one location more than the other.

I just bought a single barrel stamped Buckeye Gun Co. Lynchburg VA. Improved Buckeye with a 40 inch barrel for $125. The gun is in good working order but a little scratched up.

Why the **** would you want that!?!?!

Any old shotgun stamped "44 Cal." or using the number 44 is chambered for the cartridge which eventually was modified into today's .410 gauge bore. They reportedly fire the .410 ok, but are not as good generally as the true .410 shotgun.

From what I've read, it was made by (Stevens). I've also got a model 5100 12 gauge. The wording (The sportman's Cleavland) is kind of like the model and it was made by Stevens. It's a nice house gun with a hell of a kick. I pitty those who dare breaking/entering.

To determine the exact value of a 1895 Sterling 410 side by side shotgun, a number of factors would need to be considered. Most importantly, the condition of the shotgun.

They are two different (but related) calibers of cartridges. The .270 is basically the 30-06 cartridge that has been necked down from .30 to .27 caliber. The "rate of twist" for the rifling will also be different, since you are shooting a skinnier, less heavy bullet.

Tryon's was a hardware chain, not a gun manufacturer. With a little more information, it could be dated. Does it have steel or damascus barrels? What is the serial number? A picture is worth 1000 words. Probably in the realm of 1915-1920.

12-70 is frequently used to indicate the gauge of the shotgun followed by the length of the chamber in millimeters. In the US, or non-metric measurements, that means a 12 gauge shotgun chambered for 2.75 inch (usually read two and three quarter inch) shells. Sometimes, you'll see 12-76 to designate a 12 gauge shotgun chambered for 3 inch shells.

7 gauge is the lower the number the thicker the gauge.

I have a Walter & Sons double barrel shotgun.

Markings on bottom of barrel under locking clip are JD2 / 10 over a C (10gadge)

also E over LG in a triangel with a crown at top.

This indicates Made in Liege Belgum.(parts anyway)

I think the gun was put together by W.S. around 1900.

The marking if yours are the same are between 1898 to 1914.

But they(Walter & Sons) probably made other guns from other manufacturers.

Yes, but it is not allowed in all assault style weapon ban states. Some it is if its the post 1990 sporting purpose with the restricted magazine and fixed non folding stock. The High Cap Magazine Tube at 8 Rounds and Folding Stock is considered non sporting and "Military".

$130-$150 in good condition, great gun

Can't be answered without a detailed description of all markings, finish, barrel length, condition, accessories, box, papers, etc..

Depends on how old it is. Have it checked over by a good gunsmith
