On the left side of the barrel there should be two stamped letters and a number. The first letter is the month code and the second letter is the year code. The Remington Society website http://www.remingtonsociety.com contains a page that contains a listing of the date codes and their corresponding months and years. For example, I have a model 514 that has no serial number and its date code letters are X M. X means it was manufactured during the month of December. Since there is no serial number on my rifle, I may safely assume that it was produced prior to 1968. The M can either be 1921 or 1965. Since the model 514 was not introduced until the late 1940s, I know my rifle was manufactured during December, 1965.

i have a 32-20 S&W that was made in 1904,my serial # is in the 13000s

going by your # i would guess 1930s to 1940s.as far as value i need

The original Model 21 (1950-1966) can bring $3000 or more. The current reissue is $800-$1200.

The company is not listed in the Blue Book and the Standard Catalog lists only a few automatics that are rather inespensive, so I would guess the answer is "not much".

Hopkins & Allen made a huge number of single-shot and double shotguns marketed under their name and also under private labels for various catalog stores. Value will be up to $100.

That revolver, made in 1952, would not be stamped Model 18. S&W did not assign model numbers until 1957. If you have a K22 Combat Masterpiece made in 1952, it should be a 5-screw frame and in excellent condition would be worth at least $700.

Pull the slide back until the notch on the slide closest to the muzzle is over top of the slide-lock pin. While holding the slide back, push the slide-lock pin out (push from the right hand side of the gun). Slowly allow the slide to go forward. Release the hammer gently. Pull the slide towards the muzzle and it should slide right off. Remove the guide rod and recoil spring from the underside of the slide. Then twist the barrel bushing at the muzzle and pull it out so that the barrel can move. Pull the barrel out from the underside of the slide. This is the least amount of disassembly needed for a proper cleaning. You will want to clean the barrel, inside and out, as well as the underside of the slide, and any other parts inside that may have dirt, oil, residue or other fowling. Re-oil the weapon and assemble using the steps above in reverse.

The serial number tells when this gun was made in this product line.(1956, 2002,etc.)

By the serial number I would say that this is a satin nickel government model, series 70 semiauto. Condition is everything. Take it to a reputable gun shop, pawn dealer or gunsmith and ask them. The closer something is to new in the box (NIB) the more it is worth.

Open your revolvers cylinder. Look at the forward hing of the cylinder under the barrel. The numbers you see under the barrel at the hing is your model number. Examples would be 642, 638, 442 ect. Sometimes there is a dash such as 642-3 or 638-3 but the first 3 numbers are the ones that matter the most.

Could be the Chief's Special Airweight (standard 5-shot .38 Special with exposed hammer)or Bodyguard Airweight (same gun with humpback hammer shroud).
