King Solomon is considered a great philanderer due to his numerous wives and concubines, which led to conflicts and tensions in his kingdom. Despite being known for his wisdom and wealth, his many relationships with foreign women caused political and religious problems that ultimately resulted in the fragmentation of his kingdom after his death.
King David and King Solomon were both kings of Israel who ruled consecutively. David established a unified kingdom and expanded its territory, while Solomon focused on building the Temple in Jerusalem and establishing trade relations. Both are remembered for their wisdom and prosperity, yet Solomon's reign was marked by a decline due to heavy taxation and idolatry.
Jerusalem was a great temple, which he built to glorify God.
He built it in keeping with the verses in Deuteronomy ch.12, in order to sanctify God's name.
G-d instructed him to build it.
King Solomon was a righteous man who understood the principle of building Temples. He knew the importance of the sacred ordinances that are only performed in such an edifice.
These holy sanctuaries wherein sacred ordinances, rites and ceremonies are performed which pertain to salvation and exaltation in the kingdom of God.
Solomon's building projects helped and hurt Israel by having a prayer temple to go to, but also using a lot of the money to build it. I had the same question for History Class with Ms. Lopez... hope you get an A+ :]
