Bantu? They are tribes of (I believe east-ish, and south) Africa. The Zulus are famous for the Anglo-zulu war where they fought the british in south Africa. The two most important event in this war was the battle or rorke's drift (very interesting to read about) The capture of a young Winston Churchill happened in the Boer wars. Churchill was driving a supply train that was ambushed and he dragged multiple wounded companions to safety. Ironically, both Churchill and the soldier who captured him would lead their respective country's and become friends. The Bantu are a people who are not one individual tribe, but a collection of them. Saying Bantu people is like saying "plains Nations" or "Iroquois". Commonly known as Tswana, Setswana is another of South Africa's eleven official languages. Setswana speakers live in the Northern Cape but are also found in Zimbabwe and Namibia one is also able to bump into many Setswana speakers. Furthermore it's Botswana's national language.

Being a Bantu language means Setswana is related to other Sotho languages namely Southern and Northern Sotho. Because all the Sotho languages are related it can be hard to learn Tswana as it will be easy to confuse the languages with each other.

Within the Setswana community wealth is measured by the number of cattle in a person's possession. The Setswana even has its own Forbes list called the "Setswana Forbes" listing the names of wealthy individuals.

Traditional healers, or sangomas, and music play a very important part in their culture. Music consists of only string instruments and human voices.

There are many ceremonies to mark lifecycle events within Setswana culture. Funerals have become the most elaborate life-cycle rituals conducted shortly after death and have become one of the main venues for the expression of cultural, time, and resource commitment. Initiations into adulthood used to be elaborate ceremonies lasting a few months, in which girls and boys were taken separately to the bush during winter.
