There is no uniform, however in short track speed skating you cannot have any skin showing besides your face. In long track you only have to wear skates.

It is so popular in Dutch because it has been around there for so long. It also just took off as a popular sport, just the same as Canada and Hockey. Therefore there are more people skating, more competition... and therfore create better skaters that dominate the world cercuit.

The finger tips of the left hand of a short track speed skaters glove is usually metal, plastic or a material named epoxy. This is because when they turn, they are trying to skate the fastest track pattern. The track pattern varies depending on the skaters position in the race and whether they want to make a pass. Becuase of the high speed and tight corner, a pivot may be needed to maintain the desired track pattern. There fore they put down their left hand (made possible by the natural lean of the skater) so that they can stay a little longer on their right (outside) foot to ensure they stay tight to the apex block (top puck on the corner) which they must skate past with their right foot for any track pattern. The tip has less resistance making it so that the skaters don't lose speed during a pivot. Also, the gloves are made from a cut proof material so that skaters will not get cut by blades.

You get what you pay for. Expensive skates are usually worth the money, however cheaper skates are usually pretty good too.

Note: They're made in China, so its unlikely the build quality will approach handmade custom skates from the United States, Canada, Japan, Netherlands and such.

A skater's speed usually fluctuates by how skilled of a skater he/she actually is. It also depends on the quality and size of the wheel and the resistance and cleanliness in your bearings (often determined by an ABEC rating). The surface in which your riding on also determines how long you can hold your speed and how fast you can even get to start with. hills and transitions also fluctuate your speed. All in all, if it holds any factors in determining your speed, baggy clothes would be the LAST thing to slow you down haha

Personally, I think that the only way to truly enhance things about you is to do it naturally. Maybe chemicals and things help, but the beside the way to do it is all natural.
