Alanna Handley is an Australian speed skater who gained recognition for her performances in international competitions. While she has competed at high levels, there are currently no records of her winning an Olympic medal. Her accomplishments in the sport have contributed to the growth of speed skating in Australia, but as of my last update in October 2023, she has not secured an Olympic podium finish.

Susan Auch began speed skating at the age of 12. She quickly developed her skills and went on to represent Canada in international competitions, ultimately becoming a prominent athlete in the sport. Her dedication and talent led to significant achievements, including multiple Olympic medals.

You may notice that shortly after the race has been completed someone, normally a coach will toss a flag to the skater who then drapes himself in it and circles the ice.

Two women represented Canada in women's speed skating events at the 1960 Winter Games in Squaw Valley. Both Doreen Ryan and Margaret Robb skated the 500 meters, 1000 meters, 1500 meters, and 3000 meters. Their best finish was a 9th place by Ryan in the 500 meters.
