If your model 400 is a semi auto shotgun, with a squarish back to the receiver (something like the Browning Auto-5) these were made for Western Auto by Savage/Stevens/Springfield, and should cross reference to the Mdl 745. The e-commerce side of gunpartscorp.com has a schematic for the Savage 745/ 745C, see if that looks like yours. They DO have some parts available if needed.

The Springfield 1903 has a 1" in 10" twist rate. The later M1 service rifle also has a 1" in 10" twist rate.

Generally .22 hunting class air rifles good for hunting squirrels. Those that deliver more the 15 ft lbs can be used for hunting rabbits but you should go for head shots.

Some air large bore air guns can deliver considerable force good for coyote or even Wild Bore (the Quackenbush Outlaw). The upcoming Crosman Rouge looks like it will be a good varment hunting rifle out to over 100 yard for coyote or smaller creatures.

Note Lewis and Clark had an air gun they used to keep meat on their table.

you have to provide the serial number

1. First make sure the gun is unloaded.

   2. Release the magazine.

2. Place the top of the grip in the web of your hand, thumb up over the slide.
3. Push the slide rearward until the slide stop gap in the receiver is over the front pin of the slide stop lever.
4. Wrap you four fingers over the slide and towards your thumb and maintain pressure on the slide, holding it in that position.
5. Using a plastic punch or heel of a magazine push the pin located on the right side of the frame which will push the slide stop lever away from the frame on the left side of the frame.
6. Grasp the slide stop lever and pull it out and away from the frame,
7. You may have to wiggle it free.
8. Slowly release the grip with your grip hand and the slide will move forward.
9. Grasp the top of the slide and it will slide forward off the frame of the pistol.

I would guess it was a musket from the civil war in 58 caliber. if it now takes a shell it would probably be the 50/70 caliber which is what all the civil war musket were converted to. The year date 1869 would fall under the conversion era of the 58 cal. muskets. The 45/70 rifle did not come into it's own until about 1873

Truth be told it STILL hasn't been told. (So I believe) It shows (SPOILER) Kotaro marrying the obvious, as well as many others, but it doesn't truly explain who Negi goes with. As read, it isn't Nodaka or Yue...so I can only wonder. If I missed anything in the chapter however, I hope someone corrects me.

Best value $150 but you can get them for $50-$75. I paid $60 for mine and would not personally pay that much for another one. Good information on them is hard to come by and parts are scarce. Fun to shoot when in good working order but not worth a lot monetarily.

single action pistol means that the hammer has to be cocked back in order to fire.

double action means you merely have to pull the trigger back and the gun will fire.

some double action guns can be fired single action or double action.

The Springfield Trapdoor series of rifles vary in value based on condition and type. Condition includes the state of the wood, bore, metal, action and level of originality. An 1899 Springfield Trapdoor in excellent to museum grade condition can fetch thousands of dollars. Fair condition rifles can be worth around 700$ or more as of July 2014.
