What is the value of a Stevens 5100 20 gauge double barrel shotgun?

There will be a date code stamped on most every Stevens double-barrel shotguns produced between March 1949 and December 1968. Usually it is behind the hinge pin or ahead of the triggerguard on the bottom of the frame. It will appear as a small circle containing a number and letter. The letters correspond to to year. The significance of the number is unknown. The lettering starts with A - 1949, B - 1950 etc up to N -1962, P - 1963 R - 1964 on through V - 1968.

Springfield Arms Co. Genuine Armory Steel Double barrel 12 ga shotgun numbers 36520 on stock anyone know approx age and value and r they safe to shot regularly with modern 12 ga. shells?

The age and value of the weapon I haven't researched yet, however, firing and modern 12g round through it won't harm the weapon. These barrells were not rifled so stay away from slugs it's a breach load anyhow. Any 2 3/4 or 3" shot shell should work. I have noticed that older firearms tend to not want to eject the 3" shells, I would stick to a 2 1/2 or 2 3/4. Fire one of each and find what works best and stick with that. As long as the weapon is cared for properly it will provide generations of use. Some will argue that you can fire slugs which is correct you can, but I don't recomend it without the barrell rifled, and you sacrafice accuracy.

How old is Negi Springfield?

Negi starts out as 10 in the beginning, but as of chapter 300ish and on, he is probably supposed to be 12 or something.

In chapter, oh, 351--352-ish, he's apparently "dead" but I don't believe it based on what happens to his body... and since he is most probably alive, he is about 140-142ish years old. Scary thought, since he'll still be in only a fifteenish year old body that whole time!! ^ ^

Is a 1903 Springfield rifle SN 336560 safe to shoot?

I HAVE A 4570 SPRINGFIELD RIFLE IN GOOD CONDITION THAT I FIRE IT IS A 1903 MODEL . Bill McCary lindale Ga. 30147

This is probably a "Low Number" '03, meaning that the receivers are somewhat brittle and have been known to break. Quite a bit has been written about them and I'm not sure all the questions have been answered. "Low Number" '03s made by Rock Island Arsenal went up to about s/n 280,000 and I have one with a date stamp on the barrel of 1918, which suggests that all the '03s used in WW I had the brittle receiver. As I recall the story, the problem showed up after WW I and it may have been due to people trying to fire an 8mm German cartridge which if it goes into the 30-06 chamber at all headspaces on the bullet and of course the chamber pressure would be horrendous. Nevertheless, the arsenals went to a double heat treatment that resulted in a receiver that could stand about anything, and these are "High Number" rifles. I believe the Springfield "Low Number" rifles ran up something over s/n 900,000. The National Rifleman had an excellent article 20 or 30 years ago. It advised people not to shoot "low Number" rifles. How much is a springfield model's 18d Savage Arms 12 ga worth?

I purchased my 18D ,bolt action, with 2 shell clip and one in chamber, when I was in high school for $27 used in a small gun shop around 1967.I recall the shop owner told me the gun was about 15 yrs old.It served me well but the stock shattered when I was target practicing ,about 3 years later, and the breaking point was near my sighting eye and the long tapered knife like piece just missed hitting my eye.I threw the stock away and for some reason I found the rest of the gun in the attic the other day and have been reminissing about my youth and the hunting events with friends and family, most no longer with us.Many fond memories associated with this piece of steel.Today I actually decided to get a stock for it.I have spent a hour searching the internet but the only 18D I came across was your question.I know that at the time of purchase the gun was probably worth less then I paid.I recall that it was the cheapest gun in the shop. From what I saw today with regard to prices of 50 yr. old guns I would think the $80 range.Happy thanksgiving.

Savage springfield model 511 12 gauge double barrel?

Condition is everything in guns. If the stock has damage (cracked) bluing

worn off (or partially) the receiver, but still shoot able, Maybe $125 (better known

as a working gun).

In excellent shape ( all the bluing is intact on the receiver/barrels, stock is

uncracked) $250-350, depending on region/area.

Keep in mind that the Springfield brand was discontinued around 1948, so your gun

predates that time. Savage introduced it's replacement in 1949 with the Stevens

Model 311. Hope this helps.
