1970 I have no idea.Would like to know myself. Bought one for my son for x-mas,would like to know a little about the history and backround,value of the gun. Any help will be appreciated.

Quite a bit I would venture to guess! my friend has an authentic 1864 springfield,however I've heard a price on a replica.(400.ish) So I would guess 700to maybe 1,900.$

First, you look under the rear sight on the receiver. It will say a few letters to spell out by which company it was made (for example, Inland Div, although it probably will say something else). Under that, it will have a serial number (for example, 544852). You will have to buy a book that has a chart of serial numbers, but if you want to, I have a book with the serial numbers in it so you can just post another question with which company it was made by and the serial number and I will be able to tell you when and where it was made. You can look on the barrel, and it might have the date, but you probably won't be able to read it because of the wear and there is a good chance the barrel won't match the rest of the gun.

I have a single shot Springfield shotgun but there is no model number anywhere. It looks just like a the Stevens Model 94 and has several identical parts although I am not sure what series of the 94 it is.

In this case, between 800-1000m" To give a better answer the 30-06 at 800 yards not meters is going to drop about 8 feet if sighted in around 200, in addition at that range a 5mph crosswind will move the bullet about 30+inches left or right. ultimately the 30-06 is effective to about 600yds and will take a deer at that range. this is all with store bought ammunition, but with reloading yourself you may get out to 750-800yds for your kill range of a deer. although a shot at a deer at that range is not good sport, and not very effective for the processing of the animal.

Sounds like a S & W model #5. Top break .32. If it has a grip safety running along the rear strap, its known as the "lemon squeazer".
