How to get my pacer to trot?

I have a 15 year old ex trotter that can trot, but sometimes won't.She can canter, so if I kick her on she will canter. If I bring her back to the walk and try again she still paces.I was thinking of trying trot poles, or tight cirlces. As well as going up hills and going to the beach and making her go through the sand, because all these things make horses trot. I need her to stop pacing because recently she will not trot, but will always pace. But do you guys have any opinions or any ideas? Please share.

firstly she/he is most likely insecure of feels as though she/he is been bullied by you giving her to me i will rescue her and solve her problems like a rubix cube, with a payment of £1836234574 i will also agee to not report you to the rspca/WHWS/blue cross/dumbledore and/or hagrid hope this helped much love babygyalllll. oxoxoxoxox

How Do You Do Sitting Trot?

To preform the sitting trot you should already have been riding at a posting trot and developed a good sense of balance. Begin by sitting deeply but lightly in the saddle with your weight in the balls of your feet and lightly wrap your legs around the horses barrel. As the horse trots try to let your ankles and knees absorb the impact but not bounce. You should be able to stay steady in the saddle enough to do a sitting trot.

Would bumper spurs help tighten my barrel horse's turns?

Maybe. Bumper spus are a smooth, humane spur used to move the horse laterally. (side-ways) Used on the outside leg should push your horse closer to the barrel. Before running the barrels try working on the rail and then in 20 meter circles moving your horse laterally, off and on the rail and then close your circle in and then expand it out. See if your horse is responding to the spurs like you want. If he is moving away from the spur like you want then start slowly on the barrels.

What is a dance-like trot in dressage?

There are several different kinds that may apply. The one that comes to mind is what is called an 'extended trot'. When done correctly is looks like the horse is floating on the front end. There is an extra half-beat before the hoof hits the ground. I've seen it hundreds of times, and have actually executed it on horseback several times, and it always amazes me.

Why are some horses bouncier in trot than others?

Some horses have a bouncier trot than others because they are either very excited, or they just have a lot of energy. Frisky horses are often get excited when you go to feed them, and will most likely try to take the bucket from you and will be hot on your heels all the way to wherever you put it's feed. That also often effects their riding.

How do you do posting trot without stirrups?

You have to have a good inner thigh to be able to post without stirrups. I can because I have worked really hard at it. You can practice without stirrups on a bouncy horse (SAFELY!) sitting, a slow trot/jog. then get back on your horse (which i assume is not particulary bouncy) and posting should be easier. remember not to accidentally kick your horse while trying to do so!
