If you are talking about how to get through the mirror, you need Luigi so you can become invisible. If you haven't got Luigi, go into the passageway under the lobby stairs and go into the back garden. Get all the red coins from the boos (Punch them from behind) get the star, save and reboot. Go back to the garden and kill the largest boo you can see. Jump into the cage it drops and go to Big Boo's Haunt. Do the first mission (Kill all the boos on the first floor of the mansion and then beat Big Boo.) Go back into the level after getting the star and climb up the stairs in the centre of the mansion. Go to the room on the right with a bookcase and a trapdoor to the lower floors. In the corner of the room is a [?] block. Hit it (With Mario, obviously) and get the flower. Float straight up into the hidden alcove. Ground pound over the landing to get rid of your floating powers. Go through the door, and you'll end up in the loft. Ignore the doors and the picture of a Boo and jump into the painting of Luigi (As you might have gathered, the one in the mirror room is fake). You are now in King Boo's Haunt, or something. Follow the sound of his voice until you reach a room with a really long bridge. Run across the bridge, jump up the platforms, and drop down the hole. Win the battle with King Boo to get Luigi! Ok, in the mirror room are a bunch of nice looking flowers. Grab one with Luigi and he turns (Sort of) invisible. You now can walk through the mirror. Also, I might add that if you jump through the picture of Wario on the reverse side of the mirror, you can unlock him too. Good luck.

If you mean "Pluck Piranha" from Tiny Huge Island, I suggest you do what was dome in the original SM64-- Jump around the outside of the wall of the fortress until you get to the pipe at the end. You have to be big in order to get across, I guess... You already know you can't fall in the water or you're pretty much screwed, but other than that, if you're big, enter the pipe at the end of the way to shrink yourself down, then destroy the Piranha Plants that surround you. If I'm correct, the star should hover over where the right Piranha Plant dropped the star.
