The correct term is 'Sword Bearer', not 'Sword Barrel'. Sword Bearer also known as Arch of Sabers which is a wedding tradition in which sabers or swords are used to salute a newly married couple. The bride and groom pass under an honorary arch of sabers, typically when exiting the building in which the wedding ceremony took place. The tradition is in use worldwide.

What is the harmon on a sword?
I assume you mean hamon in which case, the hamon on a sword is a thin line near the edge-usually in a wavy profile. To the untrained eye, this might seem to be a flaw but it's a indication of how it was heat treated.
A sword having a proper hamon indicates that it was partially clay coated, differentially heat treated and chemical etched to bring the line out.
Yes, you can paint foam. Although I wouldn't paint the handle, it could rub off on your hands and get... icky.
Not all swords are real. A real sword will have proper harmonic/dynamic balance, proper blade/hilt proportions for the given size/design, proper tapers (distal or otherwise) to aid in keeping the dyanamic/harmonic balance, proper edge geometry (it's not a knife, and it's not a axe) and will properly be heat treated. It shouldn't be as hard as a knife, but it shouldn't be that much softer either.
With that being said-real swords do not come cheap. Even the very few real swords that are manufactured cost in the hundreds and handmades usually cost in the thousands.
Unfortunately-I seem to have forgotten the name of one of the few manufacturers and I don't know of any others.

Why is the samurai swords better than the eupurian swords?
Quite simply they aren't, it was just built for a differant purpose European swords are forged to be strong and sturdy, to cause blunt trauma and to stab and pierce heavy armour.
The Japanese forged their swords to cut and slash, which would be useless against a 13th century and beyond knight.
Swords often have grooves in order to help maintain proper harmonic/dynamic balance and to help reduce weight without losing strenght. The grooves are often incorrectly referred to as "blood grooves" but are correctly called fullers.
