White Castle uses dried, minced onions. They re-hydrate them and spread them on the flat top grill. They place their hamburgers over the top...the reason for the tiny holes in each "burger" is that they literally steam them on a flat top using the minced onions to do the job. Maybe you've heard they use cabbage. Not true. To duplicate that one of a kind taste, buy dried minced onions and rehydrate them with a bit of water....use a flat top grill or griddle...make the burger tiny and thin and with small holes to in effect steam them.

However many sauce packets individual sized Taco Bell hot sauce that you can fit into a shot glass. That's how many ounces. so I could probably fit 20 of them or maybe 40 or maybe something different like 55 or 35. I've never done the experiment. In fact that's all that it would take is for somebody to conduct a simple experiment and pull out their kitchen a 1 oz measure cup and start putting the hot sauce into it and counting how many you got and doing a simple fraction 1/32 of an ounce or maybe 1/55th of an ounce. Instead they're lying and say it's a half ounce they lie and say it's a quarter ounce there's no way one sauce packet will fill up 1/4 of a shot glass. Oh and don't even think it weighs 1 g with the package. So good luck society. Prolly not that bad, just evil jerks with incompetent deviant answers. If you really need the answer do the experiment yourself and find out exactly how many that it takes to make 1 oz. that will leave you with a fraction. Have fun. And I'm not sorry about my anger. I happened on to this by chance, being hungry for a bean burrito with no refried beans. It is the best way to make what tastes exactly like genuine TACO BELL refried bean burritos. It is incredible.

All you need is...

1 - 16oz can Bushes Chili beans (mild)

Heat entire can in a medium sauce pan on Medium heat. Smash the beans with a potato smasher, until you get the consistency of refried beans. You need no oil, so no added fat! Heat until hot.

I recommend stocking up on the TB's Hot Sauce packets next time you go to TB. Adding this plus some finely chopped onions, shredded cheddar cheese, and flour tortillas.

From about the mid-1960's through the mid-1970's Taco Bell made a Sloppy Joe like sandwich called the "Bell-Burger". It used the same flavored ground beef mixture as a crunchy taco, along with a sauce similar to Mild Border Sauce and shredded mild cheddar cheese. This was served on a hamburger bun that had been steamed slightly to soften and warm it.

The "Bell Burger" was just seasoned loose meat, sauce and shredded cheese on a steamed bun.

This is not the "Bell Beefer", which came a few years later from the mid-1970's through the mid -1990's.

The regular "Bell Beefer" had seasoned loose meat, sauce, onions and lettuce on a bun; the "Bell Beefer Supreme" also had tomatoes and cheese.

Through a Google search, I find the term "Bell Beefer" from 1974 in the Wall Street Journal, through 1994 in various Diet Calorie Guides. So its run may be a year or two on either side of those dates.

I did a search on the Google newspaper archive. The Bell Beefer was described as follows:
