I'm pretty sure they don't,I think their just white then grow into fly sorta things.Trust me I know our house has ;em!
I have the same thing. Definitely 2 segments. I found a fallen Ash tree and wanted it for firewood. When I split it, there were 1000's of yellow and black striped ... I'm guessing ... termites.
no - BUT they do shed their wings as a group (left in neat little piles) and sometimes people see one that has been dead for a long time and all that's left is their shell - it looks like they have shedded.
Actually, they DO shed. That is how they grow. Roaches, earwigs and many other bugs do the same. Some of the most effective termite chemicals actually stop this proccess and that is how they die. It's a real painfull death

Termites are not classified in Hymenoptera because they belong to the order Blattodea, which also includes cockroaches. Termites evolved from a different ancestor and have distinct biological and ecological characteristics. As a result, they are placed in their own taxonomic group separate from the wasps, bees, and ants that make up Hymenoptera.

Simple, take a petri dish and get some moist cardboard and popsicle sticks and put it in there. Break the sticks if needed. Add the termites. And close it. Open it for a few seconds every week for air. Leave undisturbed. Eggs and larvae will apear in a few months. Spray the popsicle sticks and cardboard with water weekly. You can also use small or big hard plastic conatiner. Take some popsicle sticks and put it in the bottom, then stack moist cardboard in it. And same thing with petri dish, though you can poke holes using push pin then add a cloth or mesh to it for another option for air. You can add soil to it. Not too much though, because you wont be able to observe them. The queen will be visible after 6 months. She is big so you need to drill a hole in the petri dish and add a tube to another petri dish to connect them. The king is smaller than the queen. If you use the soil less setup, get the soil, because they can be used for fertillizer. Leave a little so that the nymphs or larvae will eat them. Add wood if you want to. But not cedar, it has a natural insect repellant. Pine is good.Keep it moist. In a few weeks add a dried leaf in it. They will eat it. Still dunk the dry leaf in purified or drinking water.
If two different locations more than 20 feet apart the termites could be in any or every beam of the house. They bag the whole house for that and charge between 5 and 15,000 dollars depending on who you go to. They all use the same chemicals so go to the bagger that charges the least. Do not spot treatment for termites, it doesn't work...ever.
How effective is Prevail FT Termicide also know as cypermethrin for treating termite infestations?
it can be effective where it is put out. It is in a class of termiticides known to be repellent. The product creates a chemical shield where ever it is put out. If you knew where the termites were coming out of the ground at the bottom of a window and you used Prevail, it would stop them from attacking that area but they could just move a few inches over and continue on. when you treat a home with it you need to treat all of the possible entry points with it for if you have a break in the barrier, even the width of a pencil mark, termites can return. A product called Termidor would be a much better choice to control termite activity.
