Eventually, yes. Assuming Earth is spared a major impact from an asteroid or comet, the Sun will eventually swell to the point where it engulfs the inner planets. This will likely happen in about 5 to 6 billion years.

The Scriptures say at the very end, the Earth will burn with fervent heat and be rolled up like a scroll. There is an end for this Earth as we know it. There is more beyond as we will have immortal bodies as promised by Christ through the resurrection. The Bible tells of glories established : one of the Sun " those who dwell with God, Jesus Christ and The Holy Ghost " ; one of the Moon "those who dwell with Jesus and the Holy Ghost; one of the stars " those who dwell with only the Holy Ghost."

There will be and end and a judgment of all who have dwelt on this earth. But an opportunity to Dwell with God the Father, Jesus Christ, and The Holy Ghost. We choose that's why we are here.

The Bible does not mean that the literal earth or the starry heavens will pass away, even as these did not pass away in Noah's day. (Psalm 104:5) Rather, this world, with its "heavens," or governmental rulers under the influence of Satan, and its "earth," or human society, will be destroyed as if by fire. (John 14:30; 2 Corinthians 4:4) This world, or system of things, will perish just as surely as did the world before the Flood. Even Jesus Christ spoke about the situation in "the days of Noah" as an example of what would happen just prior to the end of this world.�Matthew 24:37-39.

Significantly, when Jesus spoke of the days of Noah, it was in answer to his apostles' question: "What shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?" (Matthew 24:3, King James Version) Jesus' followers knew that this world would end. Did this prospect frighten them?

On the contrary, when Jesus described events that would occur prior to the world's end, he encouraged them to rejoice 'because their deliverance was getting near.' (Luke 21:28) Yes, deliverance from Satan and his wicked system of things into a peaceful new world!�2 Peter 3:13.

But when will this world end? What "sign" did Jesus give of his "coming, and of the end of the world"?

"The Sign" The Greek word here translated "coming" is pa�rou�si'a, and it means "presence," that is, actually being on hand. So when "the sign" is seen, it would not mean Christ was soon to come but that he had already returned and was present. It would mean that he had begun ruling invisibly as a heavenly king and that he would soon bring an end to his enemies.�Revelation 12:7-12; Psalm 110:1, 2.

Jesus did not give just one event as "the sign." He described many world events and situations. All of these would take place during the time that Bible writers called "the last days." (2 Timothy 3:1-5; 2 Peter 3:3, 4) Consider some of the things that Jesus foretold would mark "the last days."

"Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom." (Matthew 24:7) War in modern times has been of greater magnitude than ever before. One historian noted: "The First World War [beginning in 1914] was the first 'total' war." Yet, the second world war was much more destructive. And war continues to ravage the earth. Yes, Jesus' words have undergone fulfillment in a dramatic way!

"There will be food shortages." (Matthew 24:7) Following World War I came perhaps the greatest famine in all history. Terrible famine also followed World War II. A scourge of malnutrition affects up to one fifth of earth's population, killing some 14 million children every year. Truly, there have been "food shortages"!

"There will be great earthquakes." (Luke 21:11) On the average, about ten times as many have died each year from earthquakes since 1914 as in previous centuries. Consider only a few major ones: 1920, China, 200,000 killed; 1923, Japan, 99,300 casualties; 1939, Turkey, 32,700 fatalities; 1970, Peru, 66,800 killed; and 1976, China, about 240,000 (or, according to some sources, 800,000) casualties. Surely, "great earthquakes"!

"In one place after another pestilences." (Luke 21:11) Right after World War I, some 21 million people died of the Spanish flu. Science Digest reported: "In all history there had been no sterner, swifter visitation of death." Since then, heart disease, cancer, AIDS, and many other plagues have killed hundreds of millions.

"Increasing of lawlessness." (Matthew 24:12) Our world since 1914 has become known as one of crime and violence. In many places no one feels safe on the streets even during the daytime. At night people stay in their homes behind locked and barricaded doors, afraid to go outside.

Many other things were foretold to occur during the last days, and all of these also are being fulfilled. This means the end of the world is near. But, happily, there will be survivors. After saying "the world is passing away," the Bible promises: "He that does the will of God remains forever."�1 John 2:17.

So we need to learn God's will and do it. Then we can survive this world's end to enjoy eternally the blessings of God's new world. The Bible promises that at that time: "God . . . will wipe out every tear from [people's] eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore."�Revelation 21:3, 4.

According to the Bible, since no-one knows it can be whatever date you like.

Generational times are given in Psalms 90 and Genesis 6 (70 or 80 or 120)

You are in the final generation and have been since 1948, The red letter dates to that generation are therefore 2018, 2028 and 2068. (again its provided for you just read it)

Christ gives you all of the events which will take place during that final generation in:

Luke 21

and the book of Revelation

Daniel defines the events which lead up to and during that final generation 8,11, and 7 in that order. The match exactly with the book of Revelation.

So there won't be a rapture (really) , but the Anti-Christ will no doubt be proclaiming one (since after-all it was his idea).

. I believe the Rapture will occur simply because God said it would: it just hasn't happened yet.

The word "apocalypse" has taken on a life of its own in these last days, that's far different from its originally inspired intent. "Apocalypse" simply means "revealing" or "Revelation," from which the famous last book of the Bible derives its name.

"The REVELATION ['apokalupsis'; apocalypse; or 'disclosure'] of Jesus Christ, which God [the Father] gave to Him, to shew His servants things which must shortly come to pass; and He sent and signified it by His angel unto His servant John: who bare record of the Word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all the things that he saw. Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the Words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand." (Rev.1:1-3)

So, the "apocalypse" is the "prophecy" Jesus gave to John in a dream or "vision" [see Num.12:6], to record for Christ's servants to read and study, regarding "things that are going to happen" in the future. And a "BLESSING" is called upon those who read it... and on those who hear its words... and on those who "keep" a wary eye on its development.

As for "when" the things in the prophecy are going to happen -- its prophetic events are a thing in progress.

Unfortunately for many people in this modern world... they have never bothered to read the "Apocalypse" to know what it's really about [future global events surrounding the time of Jesus' return to earth with the Kingdom of God, for which His servants should be watching, that they can know when to look up and see Him coming].

Instead... the word "apocalypse" has come to mean to most people: "utter global destruction"... or "doomsday"... or TEOTWAWKI, an acronym for: "The End Of The World As We Know It." All of which makes for great entertainment and a terrific draw at the local box office for certain sensational productions that play upon Hollywood's misappropriation of the word.

But then... it's not the first or last time that Hollywood has misrepresented the Bible.

Jesus intends the "Apocalypse" [Revelation] for "His servants." Those who have the Holy Spirit... who obey, have Faith, Believe and Trust in Him.

Yet, like all the rest of God's prophecies... we have to wait and watch for its development... and keep watching and praying... and "keeping" the words of the prophecy in our hearts and minds to know and understand what we're seeing when the end time draws to a close.

Or, as Jesus says: "Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man." (Luke 21:36)

The "things" mentioned in the "Apocalypse" that shall come to pass, again, is a prophetic work in progress. Some of it has been going on non-stop in the world since the "Four Horsemen" [the first four seals of Revelation chapter 6] have begun to ride: false christs and religions, wars, famines, pestilences, diseases, earthquakes... [see also; Matt.24:4-8 for Jesus' "apocalyptic" description of the Four Horsemen].

And some of it only now can be seen developing in the world as a major terrifying world religion has the nations, their governments, other religious beliefs and denominations... along with the world economy in turmoil: seal 5; the Great Tribulation.

If the question is calling for a specific "date" for Jesus' return to earth with His Kingdom; the "servants of God" will just have to keep watching... and praying... and keep trusting in the "disclosure" of their Master.

If it's asking "when is the world going to end"... those who aren't Christ's servants will have to trust the Mayan calendar... or a knowledgeable guru in their area whom they trust... or wait for the next silver screen sensation by some inspired Hollywood producer as to how he thinks the world will meet its "apocalyptic" end.

It is already here. We already Have The World Bank, The World Court, The World Health Organization, The world police in the United Nations, and countless other organizations already in place. Just open your eyes and look around.

Are you asking about the governmental structure of the World or are you asking about the so-called 'end of the world' per the Mayan calendar? Both are implied in your question.

David is correct that the beginnings of the long desired 'New World Order' has been becoming more and more manifest since the end of WWII and this current BHO Administration and his ilk are making it more evident but it seems to need a bit more time.

Many theories about the end of the world from the Maya, Hopi, Hindu, Computer bots, some sort of 'wave' theory all pointing to some major event in December 2012. I think if any sure thing will occur by then it will be people making a ton of money scarring others and selling books, movies, religions, etc. It just never ends UNLESS you study the Bible and believe the Word :)
