I had a tonsillectomy yesterday, it didn't hurt straight after the operation but as I woke up today it hurt a lot more.

I am 24 and had a tonsillectomy a week ago and it didn't hurt that much the first night, but it has hurt a lot since then. I am on pain killers to sleep and get any food down.

I am 13 and had a tonsillectomy 2 weeks ago. It did hurt a lot when I woke up, and I was on regular panadol and nuerofen for about 1 and a half weeks. Once my throat healed, my ear pain was the fairly bad, because the jaw is open so wide, the muscles aren't used to it, which causes pain. It has all healed now, and I don't regret it at all, I have so much more energy now.

It hurts slightly when you wake up, nothing you can't handle. 3-5 days out are the easiest and 5-7 the pain increases (pretty bad but you can ride it out with tv). 7-13 is the worst, make sure you are hydrated and are taking pain killers or else you will not be okay. At day 14, something just clicks and you feel fine, ready for anything.

It will settle down in a few weeks time. Try sucking local anaesthetic lozenges available from the local chemists as it will help

Not as many kids as used to have them removed; there are now conflicting ideas on whether or not it is good, medically, to remove tonsils, compared to a few decades ago when tonsils were sometimes routinely removed in all children who had chronic strep throat or had chronically inflamed tonsils.

Online, at ENT.org, a website for Ear, Nose and Throat surgeons, I found sources citing 1 million tonsillectomies performed in the US per year in the 1970s, reduced to to just under 250,000 such surgeries performed in the US, in the 2000s.

In the immediate post-op period all difficult to swallow things, including large pills, should be avoided. Once fully healed there are no restrictions. Exactly when one is healed enough to eat without restrictions should be discussed with the surgeon.

That's much more likely to be because of your singing technique than your tonsils. See a voice/singing coach instead.

Ya it does hurt for a while. But your doctor should prescribe you pain medications. Also if you get your tonsils removed you throat will become all scabbed up, but the scabbs fall off within a week or so. But the scabs make it uncumfortable when you swallow because of the texture. But with the meds, it shouldn't be that painful. And you will sleep alot, the medicine makes you very sleepy.
