How can you tell if you need your tonsils removed?
I just had mine out, I had Cryptic Tonsil I just found out about 1-2months ago. They can cause infections but nor me or the doctor knows how long I've had Cryptic Tonsil or why I developed them, some people develope them when there born, others later on, but they only diagnosed that when they saw food getting stuck in there (because its holes in the tonsil where food gets stuck, also known as Tonsilitis) I had many throat infections when I was docs never mentioned Cryptic Tonsil, I never heard of them, so I didn't have my tonsils out, and my tonsils never got so big to where I couldn't breath, if they did, then they'd be taken out, but if your having lots of infections, you may have Cryptic Tonsils and no one may know since I guess the only way they can tell is if food is getting stuck in them, and sometimes you can't even see the food when it is stuck in there because there are folds over the tonsils where it can get stuck. I haven't had a throat infection for at least 2 years, but I had them out because they said Cryptic Tonsils only gets worse. Any other way you can tell if you have them, is after you clean your mouth with mouth wash and everything well, take a Q-Tip and gentily swab the tonsil for a few secs, take it out and smell it, if it smells really bad, then you probably have it and should tell the doctor, also check in your throat every time after you eat to see if there is any white stuff back there it would be food.
What type of medications are given for a tonsillectomy?
If it's a bacterial infection, then a course of antibiotics is given, usually Azithromycin. Also, drink lots of fluid and get plenty of rest.
Mainly painkillers, but antibiotics can also be prescribed if the tonsillitis is caused by bacteria. If the tonsillitis returns multiple times, then a tonsillectomy (removal of the tonsils) will be performed.

On a scale of 1 to 10 how bad does a tattoo hurt?
probably about a three Depends on your tolerance of pain. best thing ive found is to anticipate the pain to be a 10 then it will prob only be a 3 or 4 Depends on where you get tattooed, too. Biceps are maybe a two, which is one of the reasons they're so popular. Ankles, shoulder blades and other places where bone is close to the surface are about a six. The insides of your forearms are maybe an eight. Penis tattoos would be a 10.
Ideally your doctor or hospital should have given you instructions. Please take this answer as general advice, because practice may vary slightly from place to place. For adults, generally the rule is nothing to eat or drink for at least 8 hours before having a general anesthetic. For children, this time is usually shortened to 6 or even 4 hours. Some places will allow children to have clear fluids up to 4 hours before (that means water, apple juice or pop, but NOTHING you can't see through - orange juice or soup are not okay!) but no solids after 6-8 hours before. For children under 6, some places will allow clear fluids up to 2 hours before. You are definitely safe if she has something after midnight, up to at least 4 am I would say, but if she has something the morning of surgery you risk having her operation cancelled or at least delayed.
Can you call the hospital and ask? Usually there will be someone such as a resident on call overnight who should be able to answer your question.
Will having your tonsils out help with panic attacks and inflammation?
Inflammation will likely be cured by removal of the tonsils if the inflammation in question is in the throat. As for panic attacks, unless they are triggered by anxiety regarding the inflammation and tonsil-related health concerns, tonsil removal is probably irrelevant.
If the panic attacks are triggered by anxiety regarding inflammation of the tonsils, having the tonsils removed will stop those particular panic attacks - but such a person is evidently prone to anxiety disorders and might want to consider discussing the matter with their doctor as the presence of panic attacks may point to an underlying inability to cope.

What happens when a doctor is doing a tonsillectomy and accidentally cuts an artery?
Actually, the severing of one of the five arteries behind the tonsil (i.e., the tonsillar artery, the ascending palatine artery, the descending palatine artery, the ascending pharyngeal artery and the dorsal lingual artery) is not a major post-operative concern. It is the proximate VEIN (i.e., the external palatine vein) that causes severe hemorrhaging after surgery.
While it is true that arteries can be cauterized immediately after rupturing (and are easily identifiable because the bleeding is so profuse at that instant), veins collapse when they are cut and usually do not cause problems until after the patient has been discharged.
There are several unfortunate accounts of post-operative tonsillectomy hemorrhaging conveyed on several websites, as well as in the New York Times, where this type of hemorrhaging occurred in small children who subsequently passed away. :(
