I would argue yes. Fluoride helps strengthen your teeth and enamel, which is essential to good dental health. Fluoride basically prolongs the age of teeth for a human, by keeping them healthy and clean.

Right now (2013) Colgate Total is the only toothpaste that contains Triclosan, an anti-bacterial agent that has been shown to be effective against gingivitis. It also contains fluoride, an ingredient that can reduce dental decay.

However, it is important to understand that it is effective brushing and regular professional care that is most important in preventing tooth decay and gum disease. For the most part, toothpaste is largely just a mouth freshener.

My Husband and I both are using the Sensodyne Gentle Whitening toothpaste for the first time and have found our teeth have become SUPER sensitive. It's only just occurred to us the only difference is the toothpaste. I have some teeth that feel like there's an ice cube on them. They are much much worse than they were before using it. I used to have only 1 sensitive spot, now my whole mouth is electric with spots.

I had some recent dental work and am finding the large filling I had has moments of piercing pain! I've never had such sensitive teeth in my life!!

OMG! The exact same thing happened to me. My dentist suggested I use sensodyne. And it seems that my sensitivity worsened. I think I will stop using it and see if I see a difference.

I have always had sensitive teeth but just started using the Sensodyne Extra Whitening and within in 2 days my teeth are super sensitive, especially the front top ones. OMG. I quit using it and am going back to regular colgate.

Read the ingredients on the tube. Toothpaste does not contain lactose. And you are supposed to brush your teeth with it, and spit it out. Toothpaste Is not intended to be eaten.

If you swallow more than is used for brushing u can get stomach achesb (u should call poison control) but if you just swallow a little than nothing will happen.

Of course it is. I have been using it with braces and no problems what so ever. In fact, helps reduce the sensitivity in your teeth. Plus, there is no sugar in the toothpaste, good sign especially since you have braces.
