A cord of woods' root is from where?

my butt on a rainy day

I can't understand why this vulgar nonsense was not filtered out by readers.

A cord of wood refers to a measure of a standard unit or quantity of firewood, cut in 4-foot lengths and stacked in a pile 4 x 4 x 8. This unit of measure is still in use today.

Originally from ancient French. My guess is that the woodpile was measured, a long, long time ago, in the forest or woodlot, by a 4-foot lightweight rope.

What is Walnut in Spanish?

Nogal: Walnut tree

Nuez: Walnut fruit.

I realize very well how frustrating this answer is. My Spanish teacher and I, here in Guadalajara, México just discussed this for the past 30 minutes. Evidently, Walnuts are just called "nuez" (nuts) while every other type of nut either has to be clarified (i.e.: nuez de la india, nuez moscada), or it may simply have a different name (i.e.: piñon, pistache, avellana, castaña, almendras, cacahuate). !Saludos!

A conifer is a shrub or tree that is found in northern temperate regions and that has cone-like fruits and toothed leaves.

Specifically, the term comes from the combination of the Latin words conus ("cone") and ferre ("to bear"). A conifer is a member of the Pinophyta ("pine-producing") divison of plants. Why is your maple tree losing leaves on one side of the tree?

A maple tree losing leaves on one side may indicate an issue such as uneven watering, disease, or pest infestation affecting that side. Environmental stressors, like strong winds or excessive sun exposure, could also contribute. Additionally, root damage or soil compaction on one side may limit nutrient and water uptake, leading to leaf drop. It's important to assess the tree's overall health and the surrounding environment to pinpoint the exact cause.

What is the proper care for a pink dogwood tree?

I planted a pink dogwood in the spring and have fertlized and water all summer. It is very dry in Tennessee in August so I have watered nearly every day but not flooded the tree. In the spring I used a tree spike (following directions carefully) to fertilize and since then I have used about 1 tsp of garden sulfur over a two month period. Though the tree has shown new growth, the leaves turn brown and curl on the end. Help! I love flowering tress and certainly want this one to be as healthy as the others in my gardens.

Thanks for any information.
