The Tropic of Capricorn is in the southern hemisphere; the Tropic of Cancer is in the northern hemisphere. The way to remember is at the time of year when the sun is directly over the Tropic of Capricorn, the sun was in the constellation of Capricorn back when the tropics were named.
The Indian states of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Mizoram, and Tripura are divided by the Tropic of Cancer, which also crosses southern Rajasthan and northern Chhattisgarh.
The remaining 20 states do not:
Andhra Pradesh
Arunachal Pradesh
Assam
Bihar
Goa
Haryana
Himachal Pradesh
Jammu and Kashmir
Karnataka
Kerala
Maharashtra
Manipur
Meghalaya
Nagaland
Orissa
Punjab

The Tropics are the land and sea areas between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn which are 23.5 degrees north(Cancer) and south(Capricorn) of the Equator.
These areas are typically hot, humid and rainy, with lush vegetation and lots of insects, snakes and reptiles. But these conditions are most pronounced at or near sea level and change as the land rises, e.g. into mountains. There is also plenty of desert in the Tropics
Respectively, they are the southernmost and northernmost latitudes where the sun may be directly overhead. Each tropic experiences this phenomenon once per year, on the equinoxes of December and June respectively.
Brazil, gabon,kenya
It's roughly 23.5 degrees south of the equator,
all the way around the Earth.
The Tropic of Capricorn passes through the following countries:
South America:
Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, Brazil
Africa:
Namibia, Botswana, South Africa, Mozambique, Madagascar
Australian States:
Western Australia, Northern Territories, Queensland
The Tropic of Capricorn is at just under 23.5 degrees south latitude. There are 90 degrees of latitude from the equator to the pole, which is one quarter of the earth's circumference. Since the earth's circumference is about 25,000 miles, one quarter of it is about 6,250 miles. The distance from the equator to the tropic is therefore approximately 6,250x23.5/90 = 1,630 miles (2,630 km). The distance from the equator to the Tropic of Cancer, at 23.5 degrees north latitude, is the same.
The Tropic of Cancer is closer; it's in the northern hemisphere.
Some of the islands which lie on the Tropic of Capricorn include Heron Island (on the Great Barrier Reef), and the islands of Fiji.
That depends on what you call 'close'. If your definition is sufficiently
liberal, then Anchorage and Barrow might qualify.
The closest ones I can find are
The distance at across southern Africa at the tropic of Capricorn is about 1,520 miles.
The Tropic of Capricorn passes through the following countries:
South America:
Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, Brazil
Africa:
Namibia, Botswana, South Africa, Mozambique, Madagascar
Australian States:
Western Australia, Northern Territories, Queensland
The shortest distance between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn on 1 January 2016[1], will be 5185.315 km[2] or 3222.006 international miles, a difference of 46° 52' 08.436".
1. On 1 January 2016 at UT 00:00 00:000, Tropic of Cancer WGS84 23° 26' 04.218" North, and Tropic of Capricorn WGS84 23° 26' 04.218" South, personally calculated using the PHP Science Labs website, Obliquity of the Ecliptic and Nutation in Obliquity calculator (true obliquity using the IAU 2000B nutation series).

The Tropic of Cancer is north of the equator, near the parallel of latitude 23.5° N.
The Tropic of Capricorn is south of the equator, near the parallel 23.5°S.
Muscat, Oman is only about 12 miles north of the Tropic of Cancer.
Yes.
The South Pole is at 90 degrees S latitude.
The North Pole is at 90 degrees N latitude.
The Equator is at 0 degrees latitude.
A tropic is an imaginary line of latitude that encircles the globe. The temperature on this line varies throughout the year and also with the geographic features and climates that fall on the line.
The Tropic of Cancer is north of the Equator, while the Tropic of Capricorn is south of the Equator. As both are near the Equator, I would say they were warm. But, usually, without cloud cover to trap and keep in the day's heat, the night could prove to be very cold, as the day's heat escapes into the night sky.
The Tropic of Cancer is the northernmost point where the Sun shines directly overhead at noon in the June solstice (summer), whereas the Tropic of Capricorn is the southernmost point where the Sun shines directly overhead at noon in the December solstice (winter).
Northern Territory, Queensland, and Western Australia.
Its Mainly that one has its solstice 21 June (Cancer) and other 21 December (Capricorn) and that one is south and one is north of Equator. They both are quite alike, both have hot dry climate and are situated 23.27 degrees in any direction of Equator.
