He used a number of different ukuleles in various performances. Most appear to be custom made. His main ukulele was a tenor sized, which looks pretty small in his hands!

A basic beginners' ukulele can be purchased inexpensively for less than $50. If you are serious about playing, I'd spend a bit more.

There are dozens of good companies out there. My first 'new' ukulele was a Lanakai Tenor.

Each individual plays the ukulele that they like and they have changed out over time. Here are some known brands that have been identified either by the members or from video:

At one time both Hester and George played Bushman brand.

Pete Howlett as supplied ukuleles to a number of the members including Kitty Lux.

Dave plays a Gibson Mk2 from the 1940's, and sometimes a Brian Stapleton.

The Bass is a Tanglewood 3/4 Sized Bass.

Others include a Martin and some Kalas as well as a Marshall Stapleton.

The accordion does not have strings. The banjo has a tight skin that vibrates with the strings. The ukulele uses the thin wood for the vibration.

You would use the same strings as on the guitar, but use only nylon strings, not wire. The wire would be higher tension and more likely to damage things.

While it is not often seen in a bluegrass band, they can be used. It was more common in the 1930's than it is now.

Gauge? It will depend on the material used and can vary greatly based on the polymers and/or the windings used on it.

Minimal value. A uke collector might pay a few dollars for one. E-Bay is a good reference to find out and to sell it if you wish.

Those are the four notes of the tuning of the standard ukulele strings. Those four chords are found in thousands of songs, so it will take more information to narrow it down.

To purchase a Koaloha Sceptre tenor ukulele would cost about $1,000. The autographs, while interesting, are not rare, might add a $100 or so. But it would require documentation to authenticate the signatures.

Not unless there is a cut-away in the body. For most ukuleles it is just a matter of moving the strings around. A few of them may have a 'pick guard' even though most players don't use a pick. Some electric ones have a pick guard, mostly to make it look like a little guitar, as said, a pick is not typically used on a uke.

Most people, regardless of their orientation, strum with the right and do the chords with the left. Most teachers recommend doing that as it means tabs can be used as is without having to flip everything around.

And in mass production, they don't make a left handed version. Most luthiers would be able to create a custom made one with the reverse cut outs if someone really wanted it.

In the pictures and videos that I looked at, I have seen her playing two different ukuleles but I believe both of them to be a Kala brand. Probably Tenor size, but it could be concert.

There really is no reason you can't. EADG is the standard tuning for a mandolin, and you can get ukulele strings for those notes. It isn't going to sound like a mandolin, but it can be played the same way.

It is a bit of a challenge.

It could very well be the tuning pegs. It could also be the strings.

At the end of your tuning pegs there should be screw heads. Use a properly sized screwdriver to tighten those up just a bit. Be careful! You do not want to over tighten! But that increases the friction and should help hold the tuning better.

If the strings are fairly new, they have to 'stretch' into a point of equilibrium. If this is the case, it should settle out after a couple weeks. Temperature swings can also have an effect.

The Ukulele song is listed in the credits of the film as "Boab Lullaby". Although it is not its own song on the soundtrack, it is at the beginning and end of "First Kiss".
