Orangutans are one of many species threatened by the booming palm oil industries in Indonesia and Malaysia--where tropical rain forests are being cleared at an alarming rate in order to provide land for plantations that grow oil palm. What is the boiling point of sunflower oil?
At one atmosphere, I imagine that it would combust at a temperature greater than 300 degrees Celsius. Vegetable oils are often used for cooking at 180+ degrees Celsius, and I have seen deep fryers operating at around 230 degrees Celsius without combustion.
In Brazil and us its a major source of biofuel production.
There are several varieties of rape plant from which the seeds are crushed for an amazing number of uses. The edible versions have been bred to have lower erucic acid which in the past was thought to have a detrimental effect on the tissue around the heart. These days rapeseed oil is widely acknowledged to be healthy and is recommended by health professionals for those who have heart problems because it has one of the lowest concentrations of saturated fat of any commonly available oil (half that of olive oil). In addition to the relatively low saturated fat content, it is also naturally high in Vitamin E and also contains Omega 3 and 6 in exactly the the correct ratio that your body needs in order to make best use of it. Recent research carried out in Finland found that rapeseed oil has proven very effective in reducing fibrinogen levels in humans. (It is believed that elevated fibrinogen levels may accelerate the formation of thrombus, and cause diseases like strokes, diabetes and dementia.) So, no - rapeseed is not bad - in fact it is a great oil - very versatile and if it has been produced by cold-pressing, its impressive health credentials are preserved.

Can canola or vegetable oil be used as a substitute for butter in a cake?
Yes, (it IS vegetable oil). However, like with olive oil there are cold pressed varieties, where the flavor of the oil would be too strong for using in a cake. For this reason you would need to use a hot pressed (cheaper/mlder) variety of Canola oil for a cake.
Is sunflower oil an omega 6 polyunsaturated fat?
The claim is that it's trans fat free and actually improves heart health. However, canola oil likely contains high levels of trans fats due to how it's heated and processed. All the things in it that WOULD improve heart health (monounsaturated fats, omega-3s, etc) are very likely oxidized during this process, which would turn them into trans fats.
When vegetable oil is in water is it hypertonic or hypotonic?
Tonicity is the osmotic pressure gradient between two solutions separated by a semipermeable membrane.
Assuming a balloon-like structure filled with vegetable oil is submerged in water, as vegetable oil is less dense than water, water would attempt to enter the balloon-like structure. Therefore, it would be hypotonic.
How many orangutans die every die by the cause of palm oil?

Do the palm oil use to diesel engine?
In older trucks and cars, the answer is yes, the palm oil or bio diesel may destroy rubber gaskets over time. In cars produced after 1998 or 2000 I think it does not matter as the seals and gaskets are made of different materials, designed to tolerate bio diesel. The palm oil will not effect the engine otherwise than it will be a little less powerful on pure palm oil. Don't try to run it on palm oil unless you live in a hot country, or have a heater element placed in the fuel tank in a colder climate.
Can you mix soybean oil and canola oil when deep frying?
Yes, different oils can be mixed in deep fat frying, but one needs to be aware of the smoke point of different oils. For example, olive oil is not used for deep frying because it has a low smoke point. Peanut oil and lard have higher smoke points.

What can you substitute for vegetable oil in baking cake?
I'm a huge fan of replacing oil with applesauce. If the recipe calls for 1/2 c. of oil, I use 1/2 c. applesauce as a healthy alternative. You will not taste apple regardless of the cake's flavor. If you don't keep applesauce in your home you can also use sour cream, or plain yogurt in the same way.
Best of luck!

Is peanut oil an acid or a base?
Fresh oils including cooking oil are both insoluble in water and incapable of producing ions in water, thus they are neither acid nor alkali.
However when oils age they oxidize and break down into smaller molecules, some of which can dissolve in water producing excess pi-hydronium ions, meaning these degraded oils tend to be mild acids. These organic acids in cooking oil that has been kept too long produce undesirable "off" flavors in the food that is fried in them.
Can you deep fry chicken in vegetable oil?

oooh cocoa butter lotion will float on water but it will sink in oil... try it.. i dont know if every lotion works though..
Probably anything; the density of the olive oil is greater than the density of water.
Hey,
I was wondering the same thing for a science demonstration. Eventually I used a quarter ($0.25) wrapped in tinfoil. The key was the amount of compacted tinfoil. For me, it worked out to be about the size of a large thumb of compacted tinfoil wrapped tightly around the twenty-five cent piece. You will have to use a trial and error method to find what works for you. Elastic band. Most plastic pony beads float on water & sink in oil (I used mineral oil.) You should test one in water first to see if it's the right density - some plastics are denser than others.
so does poop =) this is a different person------the top is someone else
