1.65 m or 5'5 (According to the IMDB)
Vladimir Putin is 175cm (5' 9") tall
Correction: There are absolutely no published sources claiming Putin is 5' 9". Absolutely none, so what's your source? Conversely, there are hundreds of sources claiming he's 5' 5". He's only a little taller than Angela Merkel, and at official state meetings, no one is allowed to attend that's taller than he is. Would someone that's 5' 9" have a short man's complex?
What are Vladimir Putin's goals?
Simply put, he thinks that the Soviet Union when it fell apart in the Nineties squandered its posessions and influence in the world. He also thinks that the Western countries have abused and shamelessly profited from Russia's weakness at that time by immediately making even previous parts of the Soviet Union members of the EU and NATO and supporting activist opposition and a critical press within Russia.
He also feels that they have to this day actively supported the forces aimed at further diminishing Russian power and influence in the region. His belief is that he should do everything possible to restore Russia to its former position and glory as a respected world power and force back what he sees as undue influence and support by Western nations of opposition forces within Russia and in what he clearly sees as Russia's "back yard", such as Ukraine.
As to "internal" political beliefs, he thinks that Russians traditionally want a strong leader figure who takes charge and who is not too much - or not at all - bothered or second-guessed by an independent judiciary and press or a critical Parliament. Listening to the Russian 'man in the street', he may be right in this.
