For persons under 200 pounds, 70 hp would be the smallest motor I would reccomend. For persons over 200 pounds, a minimum of 90 hp. Of course the more horsepower, the easier it is to get the skier up and the less it wears out your skier!

Water skiing is a completely different sport since its inception. This question depends on the type of boat you have. Normally as long as your boat can do around 25+ mph you should be able to pull a skier out of the water. So if you have a 18ft boat with a 115hp depending on the weight of the boat you will be able to tow a skier out of the water.

A stabalizer bar, also called a boom, is used for anyone who is trying something new. it can be used with skies, wakeboards, or for barefooting. What it is, is a bar that sticks out from the side of the boat that you hang on to while skiing (usually ski boats are only compatible with a boom).

Changing the plugs and the lower gear oil yearly is best. There are two flat head screw heads on the lower unit, an upper one for filling and a lower one for draining. Be sure to use marine grade lower unit oil not just regular gear oil.

it depends on how cold of water you can take. If you are a hard core skier than good for you, but i personaly prefer the water to be in mid to upper 60's and higher. Hope that helped!!! :)
