Chino wanted revenge for Bernardo's death, because Tony killed Bernardo. Also, he sees that Maria cares for Tony more than him, so he's angry. He was supposed to be going out with Maria, and was angry that she didn't love him.
You could say that the antagonist in WSS is hate or racisim or predjudice because it is very hard to narrow it down to one person
Well, she was a dramatic soprano with a vocal range near 3 octave its. She reached C6 in casta diva and we can see her singing that high note C6 easily she never screamed at all. It means she reached higher notes without falsetto
In the Mexico City performance of Verdi's Aida (available on CD) she went up to the Eb over high C at the end of the Triumphal scene. Only one or two sopranos in history have ever done that. It's a stunt, as Verdi has the voice go down after a high Bb.

West Side Story first opened on Broadway in September 26, 1957. The production ran for 732 performances at the Winter Garden Theatre before touring and then returning to the Winter Garden Theatre in 1960 for another 253 performance engagement. It ended in 1960. It was later revived in 2009.
Even though she was a small character, she still had a big part in the musical. She showed how the people were in gangs.
Early in the play, the dialogue suggests that Anybodys' mother is a prostitute. One could logically infer that when Anybodys was born, and her mother was asked to identify the father, the answer may well have been, "Oh, she could be anybody's." My guess is that the name stuck.
In 1948, Jerome Robbins brought together composer Leonard Bernstein and playwright Arthur Laurents (his first experience at a Librettist) to work on a modern musical version of Romeo and Juliet called East Side Story. East Side Story was the original concept and was later renamed West Side Story.

opened on June 3, 1975 at the 46th Street Theatre, and ran for a total of 936 performances, closing on August 27, 1977. The opening night cast starred Chita Rivera as Velma Kelly, Gwen Verdon as Roxie Hart, and Jerry Orbach as Billy Flynn. Velma Kelly had been a comparatively minor character in all versions of Chicagoprior to the musical rendering. The role was fleshed out to balance Chita Rivera's role opposite Gwen Verdon's Roxie Hart. The musical received mixed reviews. The Brechtian style of the show, which frequently dropped the fourth wall, made audiences uncomfortable. It brought attention to the fact that the show was really about the world we live in, paralleling the glamorization of criminals with how society itself makes criminals into celebrities.
The conflict in West Side Story is the conflict between "natives" and "immigrants." In this case the natives are the white Jets and the immigrants are the Puerto Rican Sharks, both street gangs in late 1950s New York City. The story, and the conflict, is a retelling of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, with the rival families recast as rival street gangs.
In the 1961 movie "West Side Story" Anita was played by Rita Moreno
Carol Lawrence - Maria Larry Kert - Tony Chita Rivera - Anita Grover Dale - Snowboy
It is based on Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet.
Although the play/movie is basically "Romeo and Juliet" updated to early 1960's NYC, the music is what is the most memorable about it. Leonard Bernstein made an excellent score to it and it is what most people remember; that and the incredible opening sequence of the movie featuring the overhead shot of NYC while the gang member whistles to the other gang members.
At the end of the movie it shows everyone leaving after Maria yells at the sharks and the jets because the gangs are to blame for Tony's death. She leaves first and the gangs follow, it doesn't show her commiting suicide but she may have after the movie ended. I doubt it though.
Based on Romeo & Juliet, West Side Story is a late-1950's Broadway musical that opened in NYC's Winter Garden in late September 1957. Although it played in New York and many other big US Cities for a good while, it was made into a spectacular movie, which came out four years later, helping to popularize this dynamically great musical.
