How do you open Buchanan's whiskey?

The most common way I've heard is with Orange Juice on the rocks. Put a little ice (crushed would be best) mix in some Buchanan (depending on how strong you want it) and the rest with orange juice. My favorite way to mix it is with Pineapple Juice and topping it off with a little Cranberry Juice.

How do you serve a whiskey ditch drink?

Some would say any way that you can get it. One very popular approach is the combination called Irish coffee, however the best of them should, like the great Scotch single malts be consumed straight up with perhaps a tad of water back. All agree that the best of them are true gifts from the gods and should be treated with reverence rather then gusto. If the need to contaminate this elixir persists consider the The Marine Manhattan: * A double shot of Tullamore Dew is placed into a chilled rocks glass that had been previously allowed to have a small amount of sweet vermouth swirled about its interior and then dumped out. No more then two ice cubes are added and it is garnished with a twist of lemon peel and served. (Recipe's Origin: Officer's Mess, HMS Bulwark, circa 1960. South China Sea.)

How many ounces in a handle of liquor?

Same as any handle, math wise:

2 US fluid ounces (a standard shot) = 59.1470591 ml59.1470591 ml = 0.0591470591 liters

1.75 / 0.0591470591 = 29.5872699

So about 29.5 shots per handle. I'd say plan for 28 or 27 shots, that way splitting equally:

2 people - 14 shots each

3 people - 9 shots each

4 people - 7 shots each

Where can you buy Gibson whiskey in Indiana?

Can a shot of whiskey get you more drunk than a can of beer?

To compare the alcohol content of a drink, you must know two things:

1. The alcohol content of the drink (beer and whiskeys vary!)

2. The liquid volume of each drink.

That's logical, right? The more you drink, the stronger the effect...and the stronger the alcohol content

Once you know these things, you multiply the alcohol content by the volume (ounces), to get a final product alcohol amount.

Example: 12 oz. of 6% alcohol beer

1.25 oz. (a normal shot) of 40% (80 proof) whiskey

12 x 6% = .72

1.25 x 40% = .5

So in THIS scenario, the 12 oz. beer puts more alcohol in your blood than the single shot.

However, some beers go as low as 3.5% or up to 8%, and whiskeys can typically go from 35% up to 75% (yikes!). And shot sizes will vary too (depends on the bartender)! So you have to accurately know the alcohol content percentage and the ounces accurately to make an accurate comparison.

Can whiskey get old?

No, it ages in the distillery, in a barrel. Whether 8, 10, 13, 15, or 18 years, it does get smoother in the barrel, but stops aging when bottled. Wine is the only alcohol which continues aging in the bottle.

Can bourbon be used in place of whiskey?

It depends.

Bourbon is a subset of whiskey. Other whiskeys include Tennessee, Scotch, Canadian, and Rye.

Using Scotch or Canadian whiskey in place of bourbon would not be advisable because of taste differences. If bourbon is not available, try a Kentucky or Tennessee whiskey like Early Times or Jack Daniels.

Happy mixing!

No. Carbohydrate is basically sugar ... the sugar that ones was in in the mash to become Whisky is after fermentation 50/50 converted to 1) alcohol that stays and 2) carbon dioxide that leave the the mash.

If the interest is weight related... alcohol still contain a lot of energy... that you have to "burn" in your body.

Good thing is though that Alcohol don't rise your blood sugar level... nice from GI perspective

What is the main difference between wine and whisky?

There are several differences.

One primary difference is that whiskey is aged in wooden barrels. Vodka, by tradition, is bottled straight from distillation.

Another difference is that vodka need not come from grain. Vodka can be distilled from potatoes or even molasses, though traditional vodka is not supposed to come from molasses.

A third difference is the goal of each product's distillation. The process by which whiskey is made does not frown upon and in fact encourages unique characteristics brought about by the choices of grain, fermentation, and distillation. That's why there are so many different kinds of whiskey. In contrast, the general idea of vodka is to distill it down to just alcohol and water, with as little as possible in addition to it.

What should I mix with jack daniel's?

At the Jameson Whiskey Distillery in Dublin, Ireland, the mixes they preferred and offer are Ginger Ale, Cranberry Juice, Coke, or on the rocks (ice). Each serving can have a slice of lime in it to give it a little extra taste or style. A drink known as Red Lemonade, which is only available in Ireland, is another favoured mix.

Others would say that you do not mix Jameson with anything and that it should be enjoyed on the rocks or straight up.
