Being a Wiccan or a Pagan does not mean you have to have any super-natural powers. It means you follow a belief system that reveres the earth and nature. Some but not all of us practice some form of witchcraft or magic. Some but not all of us scy the future, others are veil walkers (speak to and for the dead). Some but not all of us heal, using herbs, alternative healing methods (accupuncture, reflexology, reiki, Chinese medicine, just to name a few). We are a very diverse group of people.

There are also numerous "Mom & Pop" stores spread out throughout the area. These are often difficult to find, but are also worth locating as they often carry more personal and less mainstreamed items.

A friend of mine did Wicca for a while and she told me about a website where she could find people in her area that do Wicca also. The site is called myspace; just go on there and make a profile.

You can find connections to numerous Wiccans through the websites listed under "Web Links" to the left. You can learn about the religion, see how it may effect your life, or make it whole. You may even find some people close to you that you may meet with in person.

Well, that depends on where you're at. Some cities or towns have covens that are very open to the public, whereas some are very secretive about it. Some may not even have a coven and all Wiccans there are solitary. I would say you should go to schools, colleges, bookstores (New Age section), any places that sales incense, candles, herds, etc. or anywhere where many people gather. Maybe Halloween stores. Find people who wear pentagrams, they may have answers. You can always go to online Wiccan sites to talk to people, see what they know.

A useful hint: Perhaps wear a pentagram yourself, people may identify you as a Wiccan and tell you what you want to know. Another MOST useful hint: Avoid churches!

In our area the local paper has an area under Inter-Faith Worship. All of the "new Age" book stores have bulletin boards where you can find information on the local Pagans and both the University and College have listings on their web-sites.

I do not recommend the "wear a pentagram" school of thought as not everyone who is pagan wears one (nor do they approach others who wear one) nor do all people wearing a Pentagram follow a Pagan path. If you are serious about contacting others of the path, ask the Universe, you'll be surprised what will "drop in your lap".

The best way to network with people practicing Wicca is to head to Witch Vox . I've tried myspace, meetup, and several other sites, but that is the best one, in my opinion. Easy to register, and very easy to find others near you.

Look for contacts in your local new age store, and try setting up a "Moot" - local gathering for likeminded folk. You can advertise it via posters and internet forums. You'd be surprised how quickly this can grow.

A couple ways to meet fellow Pagans, Wiccans is to do a search for local relevant meetups. Meetups are US nationwide and are absolutely free to join. Its as they say quick and painless. You just need an email and a desire to join.

A different method is to check the yellow pages , phone directory for Pagan, Wiccan groups. One can find like minded people by searching Facebook.

Cat's are commonly associated to magic in general due to their magical nature of being half in and out of our physical world. They have been associated with magic since the times of Ancient Egypt. They have also been known to be the Witch's Familiar of choice, though a familiar actually chooses the witch, some witches prefer working with cats.

No Wicca became popular in Britain in the 1950's, it did not start in the 1950's. Wicca or Paganism has been around for eons. Look back to ancient history, starting with Celtic tradition (just a place to start) even then Celtic beliefs will take you further back to when Wicca originated No one really knows when Wicca began, were not really suppose to, it is a simple fact of the faith.

Shamanism, Paganism and Witchcraft has been around since the civilization of humans. But Wicca started as a religion in England in 1950's. There is no evidence of the existence of Wicca before that. Even Gerald Gardner does not claim so. That practice Gerald Gardner was referring to, that existed for a very long time, was Witchcraft, not Wicca. Wicca and Witchcraft are two things, not the same.

Even Witchcraft was not called as Witchcraft since 1600. It is actually Shamanism. The word Witchcraft was introduced by the Vatican in 1600 to call all the Pagan beliefs, nature worship and Shamanism.

I went to one of those things, but I don't know how legit it was. Some people had their clothes off and some didn't. Most of the ones that were naked, I wish they had kept their clothes on. My gf stripped to a skimpy little black slip or dress that most of the time let her bare bottom show. She talked me into stripping to my briefs. It was really wierd and I felt very uncomfortable. So I guess you need to do what feels OK to you. My guess is that if she strips she will expect you to do the same. At least at the one I went to, it was outdoors around a fire and you could pretty well stay kinda of hidden in the shadows.

Wicca is a diverse religion that is practiced internationally. At a spiritual level Wicca can be interpreted as many different things. For instance people who practice Norse, Celtic, Greek, Inca, traditional Native American, and ancient Chinese paths are often considered Wiccan. Wicca is a nature-based religion that focuses on the cycles of the earth. Because of this many spiritual paths follow the basic principals of Wicca.

Depending on one's interpretation of Wicca it is practiced in almost every country in the world. But, commonly people who are 'self-proclaimed' Wiccans reside in North America and Europe.

The pentagram is used much like the Christian cross by Wiccans, worn as jewelry and occasionally on clothing. Another motif is the triple moon symbol, composed of two crescents flanking a circle. At one time, the secret identifying mark was a plain green button. I am unaware of any other such "signals". If someone else knows of one, I would appreciate their telling about it. Not really, not all Christians wear crosses, nor do all Jews wear the Star of David. Wiccans and other Pagans wear clothing and personal adornments of their own choosing. We are an eclectic group of people with strong willed and individualistic ways, trying to pin us down by a specific item would be difficult and most of us would find the idea rather funny.

Moon River Wicca is a tradition that aims to make the craft accessible to people living busy modern lives, whilst still staying true to what makes Wicca essentially Wicca. There is a strong emphasis on practical paganism, personal spirituality and personal responsibility. Every Moon River Wiccan is free to work in a Coven or Solitary setting, in a very ceremonial or seemingly 'informal' manner, and to work within any pantheon they feel comfortable with, as long as it still respects the main principles. Moon River Wicca was officially founded in early 2005, although the concepts behind it are much older. Moon River grew out of necessity, when its founders Arietta Moon and Romany Rivers realised that teaching on a one to one basis was no longer fulfilling the needs of those in the community who wished to study the many forms of Wicca. A larger teaching structure enabled both founders to work together, sharing the workload and supporting the students between them. Although the study syllabus was created from both founders previous teaching experience, the new Dedicants discovered that a different perspective on the same subject could be gained from each founder, leading to a rich and diverse learning ground. The founders also discovered that by combining their strengths and weaknesses the syllabus naturally developed and evolved, teaching the founders new concepts on old subjects. Thus the 'teach to learn' philosophy came about. Moon River Wicca remains a tradition that insists on learning throughout all phases of life, and always learning as much, if not more, from the students as the mentors impart to them.

This beautiful and diverse belief system has now become a bridge between the many forms of Eclectic Solitary Wicca and the more structured traditions, offering something new to seekers of the Old Ways. Moon River Wicca has become so much more than the founders believed possible, and to this day it is still evolving.
