Because the vast majority of Wiccans are not involved in secret rites, there is not much about Wicca that oath-breakers can reveal. Some Wiccan traditions have some practitioners who find secret rituals meaningful. Supposed revelations may refer to fairly common knowledge that certain Wiccan rites reflect their founder's background in the Masonic fraternities.

Wicca today is a commonly practiced religion, though many are still in the closet so no true number of practitioners can be accurately recorded. It is a very unique religion that people find themselves drawn to. It is a constantly growing and expanding religion that takes on new followers everyday, no different than any other religion. The main difference is that Wicca doesn't scare people into converting, as most of us believe that everyone has a path they need to follow, and if their path brings them to Wicca, then they should follow it, if it takes them to Christianity, then they should follow it.

In Wicca there is no traditional rule for hairstyles. Wicca doesn't have any directive regarding hair styles, beards etc. as some other religions do. Most commonly, it is a matter of personal choice. But there are other factors to consider. A person's hairstyle may be deemed by heritage, culture, sub-culture, workplace, or school. A Native American Wiccan may have a Native American hairstyle. A person with a dual faith, may have a haircut pertaining to one faith over the other... for example A Buddhist Wiccan may have a shaved head. A Wiccan who is part of a punk-rock band, may sport a Mohawk. I myself, have had several hairstyles since I officially became a Wiccan in 2001. I have had a Mohawk (dyed purple... then later green), spiked hair, long hair (which I usually tied back ina pony tail, a shaved head, and a few others. Yes, in Wicca there are two main deities. The (moon)Goddess, and a (Sun)God. Some Wiccans are also known to worship some Greek Gods and Goddesses.

You obviously misunderstand what a Wiccan is. Despite superstitious propaganda, the truth is that Wiccans don't turn people into werewolves, bats, toads, lions, tigers and bears "oh my", or any other creature for that matter. Wicca is a religion worshipping a God and Goddess as seen as immanent within the natural universe, not an episode of the fictional telivision show "Charmed." Secondarily, I am no Scientist, but I highly doubt that people can turn into werewolves.

More than likely yes. The best way to find out is through the internet, and your local new age/ pagan friendly store. A good way of meeting others is through setting up a meeting group or "moot" of your own on a regular basis. You will soon learn who is involved with what in that way.

There is no single specific Wicca or Wiccan tree. Individual Witches or Wiccan groups may use certain images and symbols, such as the Celtic World Tree, or the Kabala Tree of Life. Earth witches often work with specific trees, using bark, sap, leaves, seeds or wood from different trees for various spells, charms and other purposes. But there is no "Wicca Tree" as such.

There are some Wiccan Traditions in which initiates to a new Degree receive a robe of a certain color as a status of their advancement. This may occur in particularly more formal covens, rather than the ecclectic Wiccan covens. Robing ceremonies aren't actually very common, except in very formulized customs. Instead advancement to a new degree is either given with a certificate, or particular medalians or emblems.

Behavior like that can escalate and end up being very bad. Best to talk to her parents and try to get her some therapy. She may not like that you did that, but it's more important to get her help if she needs it. Also, show as much support as you can. Part of depression is feeling alone, and part of helping it is making them not feel so alone.

You begin by finding a Wiccan circle. Speak with Wiccans in your area and ask to observe a ritual. See for youself if it is what you want and join if you are invited. Do some serious reading about Wicca. Find out what Wicca really is not what you have been told by those frightened or feeling somehow threatened by Wiccans. In the area you live there may be a Metaphysical/New Age/ Pagan/Alternate Religion Book shop... Most of these have a notice board where people involved , or looking to be involved with paganism can communicate with one another... Check these out. Also, most universities and colleges have similar noticeboards. Look into these, be prepared to get to know the people before you get an invitation to "join". Do some reading and research on your own and find a path you are comfortable with. Not all Pagans are Wiccan.

There are many books and magazines by Wiccans and about Wicca and Wiccan traditions widely available in bookstores and online. But because Wicca has no central organization or hierarchy, there are no official publications.

All Wiccans are pagan, not all pagans are Wiccan. That said, I am unable to determine if she is either pagan or Wiccan.

Attend a local circle gathering and see if it is what you expected. There is no need to rush into announcing your change of religeous beliefs to anyone until you are comfortable with what you are doing. Wiccans and Pagans have no set in stone rules about renouncing other faiths, in fact most of us grew up in strict one faith families. In some circles, attendance on Sundays is limited because members go to their church with other members of their families. Once you have become comfortable with the other members of the circle you can seek advise from the core group of leaders about how to broach the subject with your family. There is a very good book out there that looks at just that subject in a very user-friendly and straight-forward manner. "When Someone You Love Is Wiccan" by McColman. You may be able to find this at your local library. It is worth search for.

Wicca, sometimes called "The Craft" or "The Craft of the Wise" is one of many earth-based religions. The religion which is closest to Wicca in America is probably Native American spirituality. Traditional Wicca was founded by Gerald Gardner, a British civil servant, who wrote a series of books on the religion in the 1940's. It contains references to Celtic deities, symbols, seasonal days of celebration, etc. Added to this were components of ceremonial magic and practices of the Masonic Order. A more recent form is eclectic Wicca which involves a combination of Wiccan beliefs and practices, combined with other Pagan and non-Pagan elements. The various traditions of Wicca are part of the Pagan or Neopagan group of earth-based religions.

Because Wicca is such an open-minded religion, only the very basics are shared by all practitioners: worshipping both a Goddess and a God, revering nature, practicing magic to better people's lives, and abiding by the Wiccan Rede. Most other details vary considerably. Some consider initiation mandatory to be a Witch, others do not. Some do not use specific names for Deities and simply call them "Goddess and God", while others pick names that suit their beliefs in ancient mythologies. Some worship in groups called "covens", but many (if not most) are solitary practitionners. There are even a few witches who don't practice magic at all and focus only on pagan worship, yet they may still call themselves Wiccan if their beliefs fit in the syncretistic "constellation" of Wicca.
