There is no maximum age for swimming in the Olympics, however, certainly the younger one is the faster they can swim as a general rule. The 2008 U.S. Olympic swimming team's oldest member is 41 year old Dara Torres who won the national competition in the 100 meter freestyle. According to the IOC's website, curling, snowboarding, and women's hockey were all added in 1998. Curling was originally introduced in 1924, but was taken away and re-introduced in 1998. In snowboarding, men's and women's slalom and half-pipe were added as disciplines in the category.

The winter Olympics are held either at the end of January, or during the month of February. The last Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia, were held during the month of February.

apolo ohno started speed skating when he was 12. He also swam, but preferred speed skating. His single dad (divorced parents) encouraged him to play sports to keep him busy.

if anything i would say gymnastics is a winter sport as you can train harder. believe me in summer when it's hot the last you want to be is in a leotard training. although for display gymnastics is summer because of the nicer range of leotards. many company's however prefer winter as we ware our tracksuits and people ca see where we perform from
