Economically, it increases funding power for the government as most zoos and wildlife parks have entrance fees and ticket prices. However if it is a privately owned local zoo/reserve, it might increase the overall gross domestic product of the country (which is the increase of total output of the country) only if it is local.
Enviromentally, it reduces the likelihood of extinction of animals whom are being poached or killed by pollution. Wildlife reserves retains the environment for the animals to live in, protected from industrialisation.
Socially, it provides entertainment for the masses and also from a political point of view, it satisfies the wildlife parties/groups.

This is a term used to describe one of "three warning signs", or behaviors of Sociopathic behavior. Zoosadism is the excitement or pleasure, (sexual or otherwise) experienced during the act of inflicting cruel, torturous, and even deadly acts on animals. Research has found a direct link between this response, the perpetration of the acts themselves, (harming animals during childhood), and an increased probability of committing serious aggression towards people, usually those weaker than themselves. This has been studied and researched since the early 1960's according to the details I was able to find. For more details, please see the sites listed below.
Long before Kings Dominion had any rides it was a drive through zoo called Lion Country Safari. You could pay to drive along side Giraffies, Lions, Hippos, Tigers every animal you could name. They would walk around cars and some times Lions would walk ontop of cars. In 1974 Lion Country Safari was the "preview center" for the new Kings Dominion Theme Park. The Scooby Doo roller coaster was open that season, as well as the animal safari. When Kings Dominion officially opened in 1975, the Monorail was opened to give park guests a close-up view of the safari experience. After Paramount purchased Kings Dominion, the safari park closed in 1992. Its was a great ride that still should be there but it is long gone. It was a great ride for familys to ride and see live animals up close. On the Anaconda, if you look to the left of the lift hill of the ride, you will see all the land behind it that WAS Lion Country Safari. Kings Dominion still owns the land, but they currently do not have plans for it's future development.

You'll exit the subway on Boston Road. Walk 2.5 blocks north on Boston Road (just follow the Uptown 2 train's path) to the zoo's Asia Gate entrance.

Should animals be kept in zoos yes or no?
Yes, because some animals are wild, and need to be in enclosures so we can learn about what we can do to help them, if they need our help to survive. So, if they are in the zoo we can learn about them, what they need, and how we can help them in the wild. The animals are not threatened by starvation, illness, or predators and hunters. Plus, if they are there, then the zoos can study them, help breed them and release healthy young animals back into the wild. This might help the species populations recover, and increase genetic diversity. It's bad to have animals in small cages, but many zoos are working hard to make sure that their animals are not stressed by the environment or visitors. It's hard to limit a wild animals freedom, but if the goal is to help their species in the long term, then it might be worth the price.
No! They should be free!
Not kept in cages!
How do breeding programs make sure fewer animals become extinct?
They help rehabilitate wildlife that has lost it's homes to humans or nature. They also breed animals by putting a male with a female and get them to breed new babies. Another thing they do to help them is that they make it illegal or put down fines if people try to kill the animal or it's home. Hope this helps!
