Africans were not prominent in World War 1, especially considering the war took place between the Allies and Axis powers and limited conflict was actually in Africa. Within Africa few Africans would have fought on the sides of the countries battling over their control, and any involvement in the war wouldn't necessarily have benefited them out side of the direct benefits of fights for a cause.
