sharp pain in the knee when kneeling can be due to injury to ligament, tendon; bursitis; osteoarthritis or rheumatic Arthritis etc. You can take antiinflammatory medicines like acetaminophen or ibuprofen and use ice pack. Avoid running up and down stairs .Doing knee exercise will help in stretching and strengthening the muscles that support the knee. Proper footwear is also important, especially if walking or running on hard surfaces. Keep your weight under control, it will reduce stress on the knee. You should get a thorough investigation done like blood test for rheumatic factor, X-ray of knee or MRI for diagnosis. Get in touch with a Orthopedician. Take care.

This is not an answer but more information about my problem. I've been on crutches for about 2 months and 2 weeks. I haven't used my left leg much (the side with the knee pain). I got the go to use my boot so I started walking in my boot about a week ago. The first 3 days I had no pain whatsoever then come the next day I got a sharp pain underneath my left knee. It hurts when it bears weight or when it feels tension but feels relieved when I bend it. Is it because the muscles underneath my knee are weak, is it growing pains?? I'm also 15 years old, athletic, healthy, not overweight, and still growing.
