In my opinion, dogs look for the spot they are most comfortable with! Lol
It all goes back to the days when wolves used to circle their sleeping spot to tred down the straw or hay they would sleep on for comfort

∙ 8y agoNo one is 100% sure why they do it but the best answer we have for it is they are reverting back to their wild ancestors. In the wild they will sleep in dirt or leaves to keep themselves warm and turning in circles packs whatever they are laying in down to make a bed
