Vietnam anti-war movements were primarily the result of the military draft. Another words, about 3/4 of the protests were actually anti-draft protests and riots; "H-ll no, we won't go!" & and nation wide (televised) "Draft Card Burning" acts. Iraq protesters were similar to all the rest of the protests that occur normally; (WWI & WWII had protesters, but not as publicized), Operation Desert Storm in Jan/Feb 1991 had protesters, and that campaign only lasted 45 days.

The silent majority disagreed with the antiwar protesters but rarely discussed their opinions publicly.

The 347 to 504 unarmed civilians of South Vietnam in the Son Tinh village were killed in cold blood my U.S. soldiers. Some were sexually assaulted, tortured, mutilated, and beaten. The United States civilians greatly motivated the antiwar movement upon hearing of the incident.
Ruben Salazar, a well-known reporter for the Los Angeles Times, was killed during an antiwar march in East Los Angeles in 1970. He was struck and killed by a tear gas canister fired by a sheriff's deputy into a bar where Salazar was taking refuge.
Bob Dylan is credited with being the voice of the counterculture of the 1960s. Millions of people gravitated to the lyrics written by Bob Dylan. Many of Bob Dylan songs connected with the antiwar movement.
