Yes, however whether or not a particular college will accept you will depend on that college's admissions requirements. Many times you will need to start at a community colleg…e first. Contrary to popular belief, even many 4 year colleges do not actually require completion of High School in order to enter, they do however review your coursework in order to make sure that you have taken certain courses and passed them at a certain level. This is because the requirements for achieving a High School Diploma are not uniform across all schools and rarely match up with the requirements for entering college.

Other useful information A GED is a high school diploma equivalency, but a G.E.D and high school diploma can be VERY different actually, so if you can get a high school diploma while you have a G.E.D. it would be an improvement, not a waste of time. Having a high school diploma opens up a LOT more opportunity for you, the military for example only takes G.E.D. holders if you have a minimum of 15 college credits as well and there are many other companies and institutions who prefer diploma holders. So in short, you can get a lot farther in life and have it a bit easier if you get your high school diploma. A GED is an equivalency, but not realy some employers look right past a GED and if you trying to get in to the military (which i am so do not tell me i am wrong)itis much more difficult to do when u have a GED everything xhanges in a second and some jobs will not even let you get in with a GED so having a GED(which i have) realy sucks inthe long shot bc its very hard to make aliving bc everyone looks down on it(i really wish i would have stayed in high school)so when people say a GED is the same thing as a high school diploma they either have a high school diploma or are butt hurt that they did not stay in school like me promise u just try it join the army or marines or any branch try to get a good job where u are not breaking ur back try me ..please tell me im wrong because i can bet u can not......yes some may have been able to catch a break but you cant wait on that you have to bust your tail for a good living and now a days a good living still ain't enough....please tell me im wrong no one can because i have been working my tail off for 5 years just to survive so STAY IN SCHOOL AND IF YOU DONT TRY TO JOIN THE MILITARY THAT IS YOUR ONLY WAY OF SURVIVING ON THIS PLANET
Having both accomplishes nothing and will not suffice for any "additional credits" or special ranking. You get one or the other ... in the working world, they each mean the sa…me thing: that you graduated high school. You cannot graduate twice.

Most schools and employers will treat a GED as the equivalent of a high school diploma for purposes of meeting that requirement.
Lighthouse Christian Academy in St Augustine Fl. You will have to do course work. It is like 70.00. They can give you a regular high school diploma the military recognizes.
A GED is an equivalent of a Hig School Dipploma. It is not exchangable.
Many will let you in once you reach a certain age; it is one of the options for the requirement of entry in some places. Community colleges in your area may also admit you.… In addition, if you are still of high school age and can score well on the SAT or ACT, you may qualify for an early entrance program. These are offered by many different colleges and universities, from Shimer College to the University of Washington.

You will need to check with a particular college to see if it accepts a GED instead of a High School Diploma. If you are 18 and get kicked out of high school and then get your… GED, the answer is probably not, or at least not at this time. If you are 30 and decide to get serious and decide to continue your education and get a GED, the answer is probably yes. Still, if you are 18 there might be a college that will accept you.
High School Diploma. When Employers look at your diploma and they see that you completed school and gave fourth more effort. When they see a GED they see that you gave up and …were lazy about high school.
They're supposed to be equivalent, but a GED is basically a huge neon sign that reads "I couldn't handle high school." You'd better have a good story prepared to tell why you …went that route. (Note: there are, certainly, legitimate reasons for getting a GED instead of finishing high school... the point is, potential employers are probably going to want to hear them, while no one is ever going to ask "So, why did you finish high school like everyone else, huh?")
A GED is a type of high school diploma.... Most people that have these are dropouts who decided they needed something... this makes it look bad on paper, unfortunately. Exampl…e: the US Air Force requires a high school diploma, or a GED and 15 credit hours from a university. Homeschooled kids usually get GED's, but this just means they are disadvantaged when they have to say that they've only got a GED. If you are applying for something, and it says you have to have a GED, a high school diploma way exceeds this requirement.
