No. You need to find the drain hose from the evaporator case, and clear the blockage from the hose and/or the case drainpipe it attaches to. Usually fishing up the hose from underneath (outside) with a piece of wire will do.
There is no drain hose however, just a nipple type plug that has to be cleaned out. It is hard to get to but easy to do. Look on the passenger side firewall about 1/2 way up and you'll see it. It just pulls off and the water will flow out that is backed up. Replace it when you are done.
I had the same water leakage problem in my 2000 grand prix and they told me that it was that hose blocked off. I cleaned it and it still didn't help. It ended up being bad weather stripping on the black platic cowl that lays on the windshield under the wipers. I removed it and replaced the weather stripping and havent had a problem since.
I had this problem, and the shop manual is just about useless to get it fixed. There is a rubber elbow, about 3/4" in diameter and 1-1/2" proud, that is pressed on to a port on the firewall. Make sure the engine is cool, because you have to reach down behind the engine on the passenger side of the car, near the exhaust takedown. It's about halfway down the firewall. I couldn't actually see it, but I felt water on the engine underneath it. When I pulled it out, it had a chunk of lint in it, and it was trapped where the boot points downward. I celeaned it out and put it back. I had to feel on the firewall for the port (it's metal and sticks out about a 1/2" from the firewall), and just pressed it back on.
There is no evaporator on that model.
Open the glove box. Remove the damper from the glove box then let the glove box hang down. Remove the dust and pollen filter assembly from the evaporator case. Remove the filter from the housing, and replace the filter. Install the filter in the reverse order of removal. Make sure that there is no air leaking out of the evaporator.
Before you remove the evaporator core from a 1998 Pontiac Bonneville you need to have the air pressure discharged. You will then need to remove the AC unit. You will need to remove some screws before you can remove the evaporator.
If it's for the front evaporator the box is underneath the dash board. You have to completely remove the dashboard in order to remove the evaporator case on a 1996 Town & Country.
Open the glove box. Remove the damper from the glove box on the side and then let the glove box hang down. If it does not come down, squeeze each side and it will. Remove the dust and pollen filter assembly from the evaporator case. Remove the filter from the housing, and replace the filter. Install the filter in the reverse order of removal. Make sure that there is no air leaking out of the evaporator.
The Evaporator is the part of a refrigeration system that absorbs heat. Its counterpart is the condenser which is used to remove heat that was absorbed in the evaporator.

The Air Conditioner Evaporator looks like a smaller version of a car radiator. In it, liquid compressed refrigerant (R-134A usually) expands into a gas and cools down significantly (evaporates). This allows it to remove heat from the air passing through the evaporator's fins.
CAUTION: Some models are equipped with anti-theft-radio make sure you have the activation code before disconnecting battery * Have the AC system discharged * Disconnect negative battery cable * Working from the engine compartment side of the firewall, disconnect the air conditioning lines from the evaporator inlet and outlet pipes. * Inside the car, remove the dash * Remove the glove box supportbracket * Disconnect the thermostatic switch electrical connector and then diconnect the vacuum line between the door and the heater unit * Remove the upper and lower evaporator case mounting bolts * Remove the evaporator unit from the car * Remove the sponge pad which insulates the evaporator inlet and outlet pipes * Cut the foam that lines the opening on both sides of the evaporator case.Unclip the upper and lower evaporator cases and then separate the upper case from the lower case * Detach the thermostatic switch from the evaporator case and detach the thermistor mounting clip from the evaporator unit, and then remove the thermostatic switch and the thermistor as a single assembly * Remove the evaporator unit from the lower case and then remove the expansion valve assemby from the evaporator

Look for the evaporator drain hose on the firewall; to remove it for cleaning or for removing the evaporator, simply pull it off.
