more than likely one or the other will need to be changed. It is also possible for some suspension part to be worn, The o I kinda doubt that due to the age of the vehicle. I don't know how you use your vehicle, unless it is extreme it is not likely the suspension. The other thing that come to mind is a loose wheel. The vibration would more than likely be there all the time. hope it helps. Change the pads and rotors are not a big deal. If you need help, post another question, i will try to catch it. You can direct e-mail at ish4031eagle@aol.com hope it helps. duboff
When changing the brake rotors on a 1990 Toyota 4runner the vehicle must be safely raised and propped up. The calipers must be loosen and rotors will be able to be removed. The process must be repeated for all four wheels.
how to replace break pads on 2001 4runner
after changing rotors
AnswerIf vibration while stopping, it could be your front brake rotors. If while at idle, then it could be a misfire issue.
If it's only during stopping, I'd say warped rotors. Have the rotors and pads checked out.
Rotors may be warped
Most common cause of that is the rotors are out of round are warped. REPLACE ROTORS.
Possible wrong rotors???
If your car vibrates when you are braking, you might have pads that have worn unevenly. You can have the brake pads inspected to see if there is wearing on the drum or if you have a problem with your rotors.
When rotors need to be changed usually the pads have worn down. It is always a good idea to change pads when changing rotors.
Most likely rotors are "out of round" and need to be either re-surfaced or replaced.
If you manged to replace the rotors w/o unhooking the calipers - no.
